I would generally consider this water resistant instead of water proof. If you are out in rain or snow for a limited amount of time your stuff should be fine. But it won't keep things dry if you are exposed to prolonged periods of lots of moisture. One thing to consider too, with all the pocket layers, the space closest to your back would be really hard to take in moisture just given how little surface area could be exposed to water.

Sorry this took so long. This was a gift to my granddaughter in another city. She said a soccer ball would fit. Hope this helps.

Q: For size reference, what is the capacity in liters?

I don’t have the sales tag from the bag, but I want to say it was 20L or so. It’s an adult size bag, not sure why they say kids in the title. For comparison, I just used it as a hotel bag for a 3 day trip and I’ve regularly used it for school with multiple books and a binder plus computer. Lots of space but it also lies flat against you rather than seeming to be huge and bulky like a Jansport Superbreak.
