First, these are INSANELY strong magnets. I used them for a physics demonstration, and one of my students was not careful to empty their pockets before handling the magnet and it wiped the magnetic strip on his student I.D. in an instant. They will wreck havoc on your cellphone or computer. Not a toy by any stretch. These magnets are very difficult to separate, even if you are strong, and if they are anywhere near each other, they will come together so violently that they will chip or shatter each other. TAKE CARE! There is very little that you can do to keep these from smashing together once they are less than 5" away from each other. It hurts real pain to get your fingers involved between these. The little plastic spacer provided is not sufficient. I keep mine separated by a 1/2" thick piece of wood, and I can just barely get them apart that way when I want to use them. These are a great value though, super strong, and they perform better than I expected. Hours of fun with steel ball bearings or ferrofluid, and great for all kinds of demonstrations on magnetism.

Wow, these are strong. Be careful with them great product or excellent for my pick when I’m prospecting save a lot of time and digging square nails pieces of iron third shot, etc..

The two cylindrical magnets are indeed very strong. The only reasons only 4 stars, as opposed to 5, are given are (1) the paper box that the magnets came in are broken, and (2) one magnet has a dent while the other has blemishes. The two reasons together SUGGEST that the magnets may have been purchased and returned previously. Having said so, the two points are merely cosmetic. The magnets still do what they are supposed to do, so I'm keeping them. Photos are provided for illustration purposes.

10/10 do NOT recommend! Extremely hard to get apart (understandably) - but also DANGEROUS!!! My brother just got these magnets separated and as soon has he did they flew back together, sparked and shattered! We are lucky he only got a small cut on his fingers vs shards of metal stuck in his eyes/face or hands.
