My holy grail!
I have blonde eyelashes and oily eyelids, so if I don't want to look like an albino I have to tint my lashes, and when I do it usually makes it look like I'm still in my goth phase that ended about ten years ago. I've tried just about everything on the market, drug store and high end. The problems I always ran into were thus... Sure my mascara would look great when first put on, but within an hour I'd be getting transfer to my lids both top and bottom. I was allergic to several formulas as well. And worst of all, many of them were so hard to take off, even with oils, that I'd lose eyelashes in the process of just getting my face clean. What a pain! I heard of this particular mascara through Lisa Eldridge on Youtube. I've used some of DHC's skincare products before and they seemed fine, but I guess I'd never really considered their makeup. Part of that is because they are NOT drugstore priced and there wasn't much for reviews or demos of the products either. Skeptical as I am of trying any product when I haven't seen someone else use it, I'm even more so when it costs three or four times what I pay for things I can walk down the street to a CVS to buy. I have to say, Lisa's use of it really did impress me, and even more so that she has used it several times. I loved the look of it, and when I finally got fed up and started looking for SOME solution to my raccoon problem I started seeing a lot of talk about tubing mascaras. It took a while for me to sorta connect the dots but when I realized that this mascara that Lisa had used not only looked great and performed well enough for her to recommend it, but that it was also geared specifically for people like me who want something that stays on but washes off easily, I snapped this right up. My general impressions of the product itself are thus... - The first thing you will notice is that the tube and wand are both fairly petite. I like this because I feel it gives more control and isn't like a brick in a bag (see: CG Lashblast). - In terms of application, it feels fairly wet going on but dries very quickly. I think it works best, particularly if you have light lashes, to coat the tops of the lashes first and then get the sides that show with your eyes open. This forms a more complete 'tube' which I feel prevents flaking, makes lashes look fuller, and prevents flashes of blonde when you blink. - The look of it is more toward length than volume, but the formula is not thin either. I think it is well-balanced and definitely doesn't need more than one coat for a nice "lashy" look without being clumpy, still relatively natural. - This stuff doesn't budge! I have yet to have it flake or transfer at all, even after 10 hours in a hot kitchen. If you get your face pretty wet it might start to come off, but it doesn't do it in a runny way, just little clumps that can easily be wiped off. - Removal is really easy and I don't find I have to use a separate remover for it. I wet down my face thoroughly with warm water, use whatever cleanser I feel like at the time, and just in the process of getting the rest of my face clean the mascara tubes peel off. It basically looks like little clumps of black goo which don't seem to stain or transfer pigment anywhere, it just washes down the drain. Any straggling bits still clinging to lashes wipe right away with fingers or just about anything else. You won't end up with mascara residue on showing up on your face the next morning, the stuff really is gone.

Holy Grail Mascara!
A friend introduced me to DHC skin care products about 10 years ago. After using their skin care products for a while and liking them, I decided to try their makeup line as well. I was intrigued by the idea of a polymer tubing mascara, so I gave it a try. Since then I've stopped using DHC for my skin care - I could find products that worked just as well elsewhere for cheaper - I'm still using this mascara to this day. It's my holy grail mascara! My lashes have good length on their own, but they're blonde, which means that I'm almost always wearing mascara. I can't speak to this mascara's ability to lengthen lashes - I've noticed slight lengthening with the single coat I put on, but I think multiple coats are required to add length. I can, however, say that it is amazing for a few reasons: 1) Really lasts all day. I put this mascara on for work at 7am, and it's still looks fantastic at 10pm. I've rubbed my eyes, been caught in a rain storm, and put in a serious workout at the gym without it running or flaking. The only things you have to watch out for are warm water and steam. If you're sitting in a hot tub, the tubes are probably going to loosen and start to come off. But really, what mascara can stand up to a hot tub? 2) Goes on perfectly... most of the time. I've gone though enough tubes of this mascara that I've noticed a pattern. When you first open it, it's like it's too runny, so it's hard to get an even application. Then after a few uses it sort of settles on the brush, and it's fantastic - it goes on in two or three swipes and coats each lash individually. After a few months though, it starts to thicken, and then it gets really hard to keep your lashes from clumping. I know you're supposed to throw out mascara after three months anyway, but I always hang on to it until the tube is nearly empty. I just spend the last month carefully combing out any lashes that clump together before the mascara can dry. 3) I might be imagining this, but I think it's made my lashes healthier. They're always full and shiny, whereas I had problems with them drying out when I used to use a waterproof mascara (one that rhymes with "more dough") that I had to use an eye makeup remover to take off. To take this off I just splash my eyes with warm water, wait a minute or so (I usually wash the rest of my makeup off while waiting), then gently pinch my lashes between my thumb and index finger, and slide the tubes right off.

Best tube mascara
My favorite tubing mascara....small brush, so less mess on your skin and can get the small hairs in the corner and lower lashes! Stays on for a couple days! No smudging or flaking!

Great definition, no smudging! Love it
Update: Started out as 5 stars, went down to 4 stars after 2 months. Overall, it lasted about 3 months, and then, even though there is product left, it starts to get clumpy. I really do love it, for the price I wish it would have lasted a little longer, but I'll probably still order it again. I love this stuff. It's everything I've searched for in a mascara, and I have tried so many... from the average ones to the expensive ones. This doesn't smudge, doesn't budge, until you wash it off (which sometimes for me is a full 24 hours later). No makeup remover required, just wash your face as normal and after you rinse, gently pull/slide the coating off. I learned to do this after I've rinsed, otherwise I get soap in my eyes. I have thick lashes so they are prone to getting stuck together - since this is a small brush and I usually do better with deeper brushes, it took a little practice on the application. I learned I had to scrape much of the product off the brush, back into the mouth of the tube so that I don't have too much on the brush. Now I get it right every time. Proof is in the pudding: I recently went on a camping trip to the river... On the way there my friend asked if I had eyelash extensions (win!), then we floated around in the water (nothing too splashy, did not submerge, but still I was in the water several hours), then we went to sleep.... when I woke up, I did not look like a raccoon, it actually looked almost as good as the day before (some minor crumblies which I brushed away). So I was able to just leave it as it was - I didn't even mess with it or wash my face until we were home much later in the day. Long story, but to me, it really showed the awesomeness of this mascara.

I love this mascara
I love this mascara. I've been using it on a daily basis for over a year now. I have monolid eyes so finding a mascara that doesn't smudge or flake has been a challenge. It's easy to put on. It's not clumpy and dries quickly. It lengthens the lashes without the dramatic look, so it's good for everyday. It easily comes off with warm water, but I've worn it all day for work, travel, and etc. without any problems. The only time to worry is if it's so hot and humid that sweat is dripping down your lashes, but you can just remove it by "pulling" it off without having it smudge everywhere. That's the best part: it acts waterproof but you don't need make-up remover to take it off. With everyday use, I have to replace it every 3-4 months. The price might seem a lot, but it's totally worth it.

I fell for the hype! Not for people with blonde eyelashes
Takes 5 coats to get any color on my lashes. However lasts a long time. But is hard to remove, and , oddly, flakes. Too expensive for a tiny tube with a tiny brush.

Great for Oily Skin and Hooded Eyes
At the time of this review, I’m 49 years old with short, semi-thin lashes. I have small, hooded eyes and oily skin so finding a mascara that does not rub off onto my orbital bone has been a lifelong series of disappointments. There are only a few mascaras that I can wear and this is one of them. At first I didn't like this mascara. It made my lashes look like skinny daddy long legs. I had no volume, just a few sparse long lashes. It was a terrible look. I was ready to write my scathing review. In preparation, I was going to apply, take pictures and write about how horrible my lashes looked. However, I discovered this mascara is actually great! Turns out, my first application had too much mascara on the brush. I discovered that even after a full hot day and my oily skin, this mascara stays put. It acts like a tube mascara, so it comes off easily with warm water and face soap. The water must be warm. The mascara is buildable as long as you apply coats in pretty close succession...don't let coats fully dry before applying again or it clumps. First two coats go on smoothly and easily. By the third coat, things got a little clumpy.

Not worth it
I love tubing mascaras and have been using tubing mascaras by many brands. My favorite ones are by tart and Thrive cosmetics (TC). I’m going to rate the 3 main things the DHC mascara claims to do (smudge proof, easy to remove, lengthen) + Overall review of the mascara as a whole compared to the tart and Thrive cosmetics: 1)Smudge proof: Yes, 100%. It is toe-to-toe with TC in this aspect. The Tarte also doesn’t smudge until you try to wash it off 2)Easy to remove: Average. It sure does come off after a bit of massaging with water but takes for rubbing than the thrive mascara. It doesn’t smudge under eyes (raccoon eyes) like the Tarte does when washing off. Problem is it comes off as tiny little pieces that can get stuck in your eyes rather than larger pieces that can be picked off easily (as is the case with thrive cosmetics). 3) Lengthening The DHC product is absolutely useless in this aspect. I mean I was not expecting volume as the product doesn’t make any claims to that, but I did expect length, which it did NOT give as you can see clearly in the pics I attached compared to my natural lashes and the other two brands. It just made my lashes look spidery 4)Overall Review: Waste of money. While it is smudge proof and easily removable which is the bare minimum you’d want from a tubing mascara, it just doesn’t look good. I mean you be the judge based on pics (same application technique was used for all 3 brands, no lash curler or primer used, and 3 coats was applied for each brand). Here’s my recs: All three rands are smudge proof. Other qualities ranked from best to worst Volume: Tarte>Thrive>DHC Length: Thrive>Tarte>DHC Easily removed: Thrive>DHC>Tarte Price points only vary a little : DHC ($19), Tarte ($24), Thrive ($25)

Good!
Good mascara. I think it's a tubing mascara, because I struggle removing it with the DHC oil. Sometimes it applies so beautifully and i get almost an anime eye look but other times my lashes look lump and strange, I don't know why even though I apply the same method--sparingly over my curled lashes. But I will repurchase nonetheless.

Great no smudging mascara
Being half Asian, I find it difficult to find a good mascara that doesn't smudge. This one does the job and comes off with warm water. Last all day with no smudging. Will buy again.

Endlich!!!
