I had a rice bag for so long it started to smell - so I threw it out and couldn't find another one at any store. So I bought this one. It is soft on both sides even though the fabric is different. You have to nuke it for a minute on your first try - for whatever reason ?? After that I found that 1 minute was quite hot enough. I use it on my neck and also for tummy ache. It doesn't split open and burn you like my recently deceased hot water bottle at 4am. I think I will buy another one for my daughter. This is a GOOD size for shoulders or tummy of legs. If you get one too big, it gets too heavy.

I got my kids each one in different colours so they would stop stealing mine. They love them at bed time. One side is a soft minky type fabric and the other is linen feeling. They have a really nice heat after 1 minute then another 30 seconds in my microwave. I wish they made one just a little bigger for me.
