does this dispenser lock open? i am looking for something we can dose with my daughter's medicine and put in a cooler bag to take to school.

There are no "Locks" or stoppers on the device except for the caps. Our dispensers are used to store extra medication to be dispensed for later use(1-2 weeks Later). It does not leak or evaporate.

Do these fit tight in a medicine bottle?

Depends on the bottle, but that is the idea. You need to draw medication from somewhere. There are Adapta-Caps for every size screw bottle necks and they have a perfect connector for these syringes if you want a perfect fit.
