Wifi connection not reliable + Amazon tries to block returns
I purchased this item to use while I’m on a longer trip for work leaving my cat at home (3 to 5 days). I also tested it before actually using it for the trip for one day. I also have other wifi connected devices such as cameras. I like using IOT devices and am not new to using remote control products such as this one.On the day of the trip, the device failed within 14 hours. The wifi was disconnected. And I was not able to get access to the camera feed I wanted to use on this device as well as feeding features. The device was not removed from the area where it was originally placed. It was about 5 ft away from the router. The range of movement was less than 12 inches. I mostly used the rotation of the camera and feeder and small movements were made to give space for my cat to get to the snacks provided. The wifi connection on three other cameras within the home worked without any issue and there was no wifi outrage or electricity outage. From the camera I had in the area PUMPKII was placed, I could see the battery was not out and the device was powered on.There was no clear reason for the device to fail or disconnect from wifi.Thinking this being a defective device, I started the return process but it gave a call or a chat option to fix the issue. The Amazon representative kept insisting I need to talk to the manufacturer for warranty. The device was purchased and delivered 2 days ago and I found it defective. It would normally be accepted as a defect and be returned. Somehow, Amazon rep decided for this product the return was not an option. She specifically said this case is was such a case where return cannot be done without 7 days internal approval period. When asked about what “this case” was, she replied it being a defective item. It did not make any sense based on my previous experience. Other defective items I found were returned without an issue.I went back to the return process and found that I could bypass the call/chat option and initiate return.I am not sure why this specific representative was blocking the return of this product.Overall, the promise of this product is not delivered. The product is defective. However, I am not sure Amazon sees such issues as being defective or acceptable based on the Amazon rep’s reaction/behavior.Do not buy the product. Return will be harder based on what options Amazon will be providing for this product. And the product has a defect and won’t deliver what it promised. If you are inclined to purchase, make sure it is used when you can easily comeback and fix every time it fails. Based on my experience, it is not a good fit for a trip that would last more than one day.

Fun toy for adults, cat seems to like it too
Ok so our cat was scared of this robot at first. I think any cat should be, its the same size and it makes quite a bit of noise when moving. But once he found out that it dispenses treats constantly, it became his best friend and he will come running when he hears the noises it makes. It took maybe 3 weeks to get comfortable. The robot got stuck on the edges of my rugs a lot, I actually modified the wheels, reduced the size of the casters and increased the size of the drive wheels with 3d printed pieces. The provided casters are really not very good, they do not rotate well and therefore do not "cast", but I have no problems driving it around my house now. It rocks back and forth a lot when driving and makes more noise on wood floor but its worth it to not be stuck. If your robot always gets stuck consider popping the caster wheels right out and see if it helps. I think the sticky casters are causing the reported steering problems also. I consider this to be a toy though so just learn how to play.. if it gets stuck somewhere dont drive there, if its hard to steer then drive slowerThe app was a little buggy but customer support was friendly and helpful, I would recommend sending any problems to them instead of complaining here since they made an effort to actually fix my problemBattery life seems pretty good, I think it said "7 days in standby" and it seems to meet that, even driving it around a little during that time. It does actually work while plugged in (you cant even drive it! but the manual says not to) So you can use it as a stationary camera with permanent power if you wanted to leave for like a month.Videos limited to 30 seconds but its not why I bought this robotYou can share with family members, but for some reason that I cant understand, only the primary user can move the camera up and down. Everyone can drive and feed and move the toy, but only one person can change the camera angle. strangeWifi: be aware that you need a dedicated 2.4ghz wifi for this product as well as any wifi IoT device ever made, If you have a smart home already you will know exactly what I mean. If you dont have one yet, you will eventually need one to use any of the cool wifi IoT products on amazon like switches or security cameras so I say just get a dedicated 2.4ghz router and remember, dont co-locate it to your current one!5 stars despite the issues because we have been having a lot of fun, our cat actually made friends with it, and customer support replies to questions
