McKesson PVP Prep Solution USP, 10% Povidone-Iodine, 8 oz, 1 Count

We use this for all sorts of scrapes, cuts and also for our pets. That said, we go through a lot of this, and the 1 gallon container was a great solution for us. This is a terrific solution for cut, abrasions, scrapes, burns and also for treating our dogs paws. Our dog has bad seasonal allergies, and we soak our dogs paws in a mixture of this skin prep and water. It gives our dog some relief from the severe itching, and helps to minimize any infections. Because we use so much of this, the 1 gallon cotainer was a godsend. This saves us so much money, and it lasts a long time. It is a terrific value for the price, and it is fantastic quality from one of the top medical supply producers. We highly recommend it and give it 5 stars.

I have a really extreme psoriasis and I am extremely prone to foot infections as a result and so I soak my feet every night and either I use the povidone iodine to cleanse my skin before I soak my feet, or if that's not possible I add a little to the water when I soak my feet. The iodine is drying. It is a very good alternative for those of us who can't use The blue antibacterial wash that is the current surgical choice. I am extremely allergic to that and I tolerate the povidone iodine. I realize this is intended for veterinary use, and yes I've used it on dogs to clean wounds many times, So using it on human skin is technically "off label" so I'm not trying to get anybody in trouble, but this works for me and it is by far less expensive than the "name brand" Because I could never afford to use that in the quantity that I use long-term. This absolutely works for me, my doctor knows that I will use it and approves.

I continue to find uses for this stuff, both medically and hygienically. I figure I'm saving about $40+ buying by the gallon! Hygienically. I had a need some time ago to keep my hands exceedingly clean. I mixed (another brand in 8 oz container) some iodine with regular soap, from that it evolved into the shower. Now I clean (certain parts :-) ) with soap and iodine. I don't cover myself in this stuff. I wash my face and hair normally but "other places" get the treatment. Since iodine disinfects on contact, a few seconds, from wash to rinse, is not going to make a difference. I definitely feel cleaner and I'm sure it's not physiological! :-) I've also had irritation problems shaving. Now, I dip my razor into just enough iodine and hot water to cover the blade, rinse it off and by golly, no more irritation!! Boom! I am a light skinned white guy who's had things growing on my skin since puberty! Most all of it is superficial including basil cell carcinoma as I got much older. In some cases the fix has been surgery and/or freezing. Recently I began experimenting on small lesions that pop up. I was totally blown away to see the lesion improve dramatically! Not a cure (YET!) but, again, dramatically improve! I've just begun to experiment on other areas, nothing to say about them yet! WARNING! It can take some time to improve, i.e. days, weeks, months but improve it has! Zits, moles and warts are NOT superficial! Won't hurt to try it but don't hold your breath! And don't even think of a child use it on their own. Keep the stuff well away from your eyes, as in neck down! There is a warning not to cover large areas for a long time. When I do, I leave it for an hour and rinse! Whatever it takes to stay away from the doctor's office I will at least try it!

It’s a wonderful product. We use it all the time buying it by the gallon saves lots of money too.

On the advice of a veterinarian, I use this to create a foot soak for my dogs after we go on walks so that the pesticides from lawns and other yucky things that stick to their feet are safely removed. I just soak their paws for a quick minute and pat them dry. Works great! I like the flip cap on this bottle too.
