UPDATE 3/2018- The original 2 bulbs I ordered are still going strong. Instant-on and no hum, they provide a much better quality of light than the old fluorescent bulbs that they replace. If I didn't make it clear in my earlier comments, I am using these in desk lamps in my home office, and they are really terrific. I had one more lamp to convert that had the ballast built into the head of the lamp, and difficult to access. So, I ordered 2 more bulbs and tackled the job when I had plenty of time to be patient. I am rewarded with what is really a "new" lamp. Again, I stress that especially in this case, removing the old ballast is a job for someone who isn't afraid to disassemble things, work with internal electrical wiring, and make secure connections. But, this old lamp has always been my favorite one, due to its "retro" cool design from LEDU, and now it is even better than ever. These are terrific replacements for the original dim and yellow bulbs. ORIGINAL COMMENTS: Really terrific replacement for the old weak fluorescent bulbs that came with my 2 lamps years ago. I DID have to remove the old ballast transformer from the end of the wires and install a plain 110V plug, but that was easy and quick. If you use these with a ballast, you will damage the bulbs and possibly overheat something, so be aware that in most lamps, this won't be just plug-and-play. But, "converting" the lamps was easy and the reward is that they now work better and brighter than ever. If you are not comfortable with cutting stuff off a lamp cord and replacing the plug, then this probably isn't for you. You need to have some tools and not be afraid of wiring a lamp.

Followed instructions to remove the ballast from my old CFL lamp. Although I had never done this before, it was not hard to cut the wired to the ballast (circuitboard with stuff) and reconnect the wires directly to the switch. Just need a wire cutter, strip some of the ends, twist them together, and electrical tape to wrap. Now it works great! Nice and bright, no flicker or hum. Would buy again, but it comes in a two pack so I'll likely never need to buy another!

Appreciate the brightness of this option bulb type. As a renter the resistance to come out of pocket for parts and appliances are at the forefront. This odd light source is above the bathtub/shower. Nice to have but after time a bulb burned out and light output was intermittent. Eventually got around to investigating what is actually in this contraption. Located these as replacement option. Purchased. Slightly longer than old bulb assembly. Angled - forced into place , installed… WOW, what a difference.

Love it. It's a clean bright non flickering light. This LED light replaced a burnt out Osram 13w Daylight fluorescent bulb on my desk lamp. I had to cut off the transformer wall wart plug on the electrical cord of my desk lamp, and replace it with a standard electrical plug because this light will not work with a transformer. I put in the new LED bulb, plugged the cord back into the electrical outlet, it turned it on instantly, no buzzing noise, and it's clean and bright. I sometimes take digital photos on my desk of items to sell online, and use my desk lamp to light it up. The old fluorescent bulb would flicker on the camera image. This LED light is constant so no more flickering images or photos. Happy that my old bulb burnt out, this LED light saves electricity, and it works better!

I purchased a set of two bulbs. They fit. Actually I just installed one and it fit. Could have knocked me over with a feather. I never knew anything like this was available and I had had that trouble light for a number of years and it wouldn't stay lit etc. Finally I realized it must be the bulb so went on a search. The bulb is blanked out on one side so it won't shine in my face, which is a big plus. Beats the heck out of tape blocking the light. AND it works!! You guys going to print this essay? How come you didn't print my last one? Just because I gave a suggestion? I think that's what I did. No big deal, but I guess I have to be politically correct?

It's plenty bright, and is better than the compact fluorescent bulb that it replaced, but it wasn't clear to me that I was buying a bulb that throws the light in one direction. Yes, it does say "180 degree beam angle" in the description, but it is such an odd thing that it didn't sink in for me that it really meant what it said. It's hard for me to imagine why anybody would want this, unless maybe to illuminate a piece of art, but I can also hardly imagine one of the GX23 fixtures that were originally designed for compact fluorescent bulbs every having been used for directional illumination.

The light was a little long for the exhaust fan in the bathroom, but after clipping one wire and removing the ballast, it was super easy and worked well. Trying to phase these fixtures out and figured that it would be cheaper to convert it over to an LED bulb and then replace the entire fan fixture in the bathroom. Super easy great option and I would definitely buy it again.
