Was not expecting it to be this robust I was thinking of buying the 12 in. But this is enough tool for what I need.

Strong and versatile clamp

Indispensable clamp. Wish I had purchased long ago.Have four now, two with the return spring. Also the Strong Hand magnetic welding torch holder and a great variety of welding clamps I make good use of.On these J clamps, they are so useful I find myself reaching out for them all the time. Anytime I have something to cut, drill or weld I now use the J clamp.I modified the clamps by 1) removing the metal ring on top that keeps it from coming apart. It kept hanging on to the movable bar, very frustrating. I replaced the ring with a small bolt to keep movable arm from coming out. On the spring loaded one, I did same with the ring and removed the return spring as that was not useful at all. Maybe for some it's useful for I found it gets in the way.At end of the J there is a tapped hole. I added a bolt that adjusts in length so as to take under table irregularities into account. This alone makes this clamp worth it's weight in gold. I have many Strong Hand magnetic doo dads I can attach to end of J for specialty clamping and that's another reason why this clamp is tops in my book.I expect to purchase more in varying strengths and sizes over time. Looking back it was a big mistake not buying Strong Hand's clamps earlier. Highly recommended.
