Product works well and included everything including a well written instructions and helpful tips booklet. Within minutes we were testing silver and then moved onto gold. Please note that when testing gold you compare the "fading/dissolving" levels of your sample. This differs from the silver test where you compare the resulting color. When silver testing or until you get comfortable with the kit, get your sample under sunlight. We noticed that under sunlight the silver color readings where much more clear to determine. So play around with light sources.

The gold and silver testing kit is very easy to use and understandable In gist, what your doing is rubbing whatever object you want to test to see if it has gold or silver on a coarse black rock. When you can see a visible streak from the object your testing on the black rock. You then use a droplet of the testing liquid and apply it to the streak ( one small drop is enough ). If the streak you made on the rock disappears, then it's not gold or silver. Now if it does still have the streak you rubbed on that rock, then you found what your looking from . Reaction time is very short not more then a couple minutes. Very easy very simple. One piece of very important information. Do not touch your skin or any object you don't want ruined with the acid liquid, if so use the neutralizer immediately. It will eat a hole thru whatever it touches until you use the neutralizer. The amount of testing liquid is good for about 50 pieces of gold and silver. There are cheaper liquid testers that are exactly the same. About 3.00 cheaper was the cheapest I found. But I went with this company because they delivered the quickest. Definitely recommend

First let me say I have purchased and used test kits similar to this before. I have been buying and selling precious metal and gems for decades. So I know what I'm doing. I tested several pieces of what I believe to be sterling silver jewelry and there was zero color change, i.e., zero reaction. So I then tested 3 pieces of marked jewelry that I certain are sterling. Both had zero reaction/color change as well. The kit says it's good for 8 months, but there's no expiration date on any of the chemicals! DUH! How about dating this stuff? *eyeroll* Just wasted half my morning with this useless kit! Don't buy!!
