Philips UK Kitchen and Home Philips PerfectCare Compact Steam Generator Iron with 400g steam Boost, 2400 W, Burgundy & White - GC7842/46

It malfunctioned two days after I received it, and there's no way to contact the maintenance department to find out if there's a manufacturing defect or not. For this reason, I don't recommend buying it.

The descaling process resulted in a serious safety incident. The unit was purchased brand new, and within four days it began indicating that descaling was required. When my wife attempted to open the descaling screw as instructed, it suddenly released high-pressure steam, causing burns to her hands. The bathroom was filled with steam and water as a result. This incident demonstrates a significant safety hazard associated with the product.I reported the matter to an Amazon UAE supervisor, Ms. Sinran, who informed me that she would revert after consulting the manufacturer. When I inquired about escalating the issue to the relevant authorities, I was advised not to proceed at that time. My wife experienced pain and discomfort for two days following the incident.Given the severity of this safety issue, I request an immediate investigation and appropriate action.

I received the iron today. The box looks like it was opened before. I was trying to used the product and it was broken. There is leakage from the base of the steam generator. The water tank was empty by half in 5 minutes. I was only trying to iron 1 T-shirt. I was using Philips steam iron for the last 6 years. This one is definitely broken. I have to return it. This is very upsetting.

I have a defect with this product, it is still under warranty. How do I return it?

I have been a user of steam generator irons for over a decade now. While this was on offer, I decided to upgrade my existing Philips HI5914 which had been good, but found wanting in a few areas. Thankfully, this has been an immediate step up and is well worth the money. The first thing that impressed me about this sleek and attractive unit was the fact that it had a lock button to hold it in place while it was on the base - this might not seem like much, but it's such a clever idea for storage and carrying. The power steam cable also wraps neatly under the unit, so it take up much less room than previous models I have had. I liked the non-stick base - it looks like it will keep clean longer than others I've owned. I would recommending de-ionised or distilled water immediately if you are in a hard water area; this model has an anti-calcium function, but I've found that my last model quickly clogged and spat despite having the same thing. The unit itself is light and, thanks to PerfectCare system, doesn't need a temperature control. This was a real winner - I was able to iron from denim to silk immediately! It saved much waiting for the temperature to change or those moments that you forget you have it on a high setting and then accidentally iron your wife's silk blouse...I tested this model out by leaving it on the ironing board and it does exactly what it claims - no burns! Terrific bit of technology. The steam pressure is very impressive, more than adequate for most home uses (I have a handheld steamer for garments so I don't require vertical steam). In summary, I'm delighted with this machine and it runs so smoothly when you use deionised water from the get-go.
