I highly recommend this book
For anyone that loves to run, that loves stunning scenery and edgy photography, I highly recommend this book. I found myself wanting to run all of these amazing ultras but at least I can imagine what they are like, from the context of both the photography and the written word from various awesome ultra runners.

Beautiful and inspiring book for those that love the outdoors.
I'm biased because I love listening to the author's Podcast, Talk Ultra, but this book is great in that the pictures are stunning and the descriptions of the race and commentary from the runners make me want to lace up and go train for more mountain adventures. As Ian described in an interview, this book is great as a coffee table book but I think if you are a trail runner, it goes much deeper than that.

It inspire me to run again
Up to 1 year ago , I was running 6 miles daily . I ran a marathon to celebrate turning 50 , have ran countless 13.1 Miles , 10K , 5 K ; okay you get the picture ...but I got sick , and my desire to run and hit the trails and road deem.Ian Corless, has inspire and motivated me to run again . Reading and looking at the pictures of Running Beyond gave me back my love for running. I want to feel again the bliss and exhilaration to be out there in nature .And who knows, even train for an Ultra . Well, one can always dream, right. I enjoyed Running Beyond .I received an ARC of this book from the publisher through NetGalley for my honest review.

You have to pace yourself
I am congratulating myself on my ability to pace myself through this book. I received this book for Christmas last year and was able to finish it on Christmas this year. The work is best read in hard copy since it gives you a coffee table book of incredible photos taken around the world. The races represented here are the top of the word, literally. Their beautiful mountain vistas will have you itching to run ridges.Ian did an excellent job covering these races and I have added many new races to my life list.

Literally awesome and inspiring
If you want to know about what it's like to run an ultra, go out on the most incredible trails or do a skyrun, this book makes you feel Iike you're actually doing those things, thanks to the incredible photography. The skyrunning photography made my palms sweat because the images were so clear (I'm not great with running above clouds). Some of the race descriptions turned me off attempting them, so I'm glad I have that information! It really made me proud that some humans attempt these sorts of things.I liked Killian Jornet's foreword - who better to open a book like this?I would even give this as a gift to a fellow runner who wasn't interested in the ultra distance because it's so beautiful and inspiring.

Pure inspiration for all runners who love the mountains and running far! (Warning it'll make you want to run!)
230+ Pages of pure Running inspiration! The author has not only managed to capture (with stunning photo's, reproduced here in very high quality full page prints) the beauty of some of the most iconic and remote places to run all over the world - but has also worked closely with dozens of the top runners in the sport of ultra trail and sky running. The insights shared, combined with the remarkable photo's make this a book I'll be returning to again and again for years to come. The book provides the reader with fascinating overviews of many top ultra/sky-running events, it also explains the world of 'sky running' a place where the disciplines of mountaineering and extreme running overlap.A true source of inspiration for those who love to run in the wild, I highly recommend this book, Kevin Carr.

Great Motivation Book
I had the chance to meet Ian personally on a race in Turkey, and really liked this guy, he was so kind and openhearted . I saw many photos taken by him which are not published, each of them is a masterpiece. (And I am so lucky to have a closeup portrait shoot of me taken by Ian at a aid station in Iznik Ultra)Ian knows the world of runners since he is a great ultra athlete himself too. This book is a great motivation source for people running on trails or even dream to attempt some of the ultra all around the world.

Stunning and inspiring photography
The photography is what really sells this book and makes it worth the money. Its also interesting to read about the various races around the world. The negatives for me would be the lack of story with a lot of the races. Sometimes the plain description of a race is a bit dull. Also there are a few errors that should never have made print (i.e. Western States 100 terrain is described as “Road”. I’d like to see them take a car!) But i’m nit picking there. Most of my ultra running books don’t get any notice from friends and visitors, but they see this book on the table and the beautiful photographs pull them in and engage them. All in all I would recommend the book.

Pleasure
A pleasure to look at, a pleasure to read. Really worth for every trailer to have on his or her's coffee table.. some perceptive quotes from well-know international runners, and lots of emotions and opinions which trailers will identify with. After a race or training run, great to pick and re-read.. a job well done.
