Good yarn for moderate gauge projects
I'm relatively new to crochet and bought this yarn for a blanket pattern that simply said worsted weight yarn. It never occurred to me that there isn't a standard thickness for that so it didn't work well with a J hook like the pattern specified. However, once I noted on the label that the yarn is best suited for an H hook, the pattern became much easier to do, although it required some alterations. Keep in mind that some of my experiences could be explained by user error. Pluses to this yarn: * Center pull * Soft * No dye lot * Lovely color Minuses to this yarn: * Gets fuzzy easily * Was difficult to use with a larger gauge hook

Soft
I found it somewhat difficult to work with because the yarn splits frequently. It’s very soft though and the finished product is beautiful

Beautiful Yarn and Easy to Crochet With
Caron Simply Soft is one of my favorite yarns to work with. I've used it in several different colors over the years, and it is consistently soft, smooth, and easy to crochet with. The yarn glides nicely on the hook, making projects enjoyable to work on. The finished projects have a soft feel, and the color selection in this pack is especially lovely. If you're looking for a yarn that's comfortable to work with and has beautiful fall-inspired colors, I would definitely recommend this assortment.

Highly recommend the Country Blue yarn! ❤️
I haven’t used it yet. I plan on starting the blanket in May. It seems to be a lovely yarn. I have used a Caron yarn before so was confident that it would be good. Love the blue. Update: I am now 1/3 into my blanket. It is looking so good, the yarn has a nice sheen to it, A GORGEOUS colour. I feel the yarn does seem to vary in width at times but is ok with this project.

Pretty to look at, tricky to work with!
I picked up the Caron Simply Soft Solids Yarn in Country for a knitting project and my feelings are mixed. On the plus side the color is genuinely beautiful — rich, warm, and exactly what drew me to it in the first place. It photographs wonderfully and would make a stunning finished piece. The challenge though is the texture. This yarn lives up to its “Simply Soft” name perhaps a little too well — it’s almost too silky, which makes it noticeably slippery to work with when knitting. Stitches slide around more than you’d want, making it harder to maintain an even tension and keep everything consistent throughout your project. For beginner knitters especially this could be quite frustrating. It’s a shame because the color range is clearly lovely, but the overly silky feel makes it better suited to crochet or looser knitting projects where the slipperiness is less of an issue. If you’re an experienced knitter comfortable working with slicker yarns you may manage just fine — but if you prefer a yarn with a bit more grip and control this one may test your patience. Beautiful color, but know what you’re getting into texture wise before you cast on!
