Does exactly what it says
Update: (as humans we tend to be quick to complain but quick to forget to give accolades when deserved so here goes) We have had this watch for almost a year now and I want to write an update because this watch deserves it. Had issues a few months ago when old messages were deleting once the watch turned off. Customer service over WhatsApp was amazing. They were responsive but you have to be aware of time difference or it would seem they are slow to respond. Also before you reach out to customer service with any issues, try unbinding the watch, deleting the app and then upload app and bind watch (please note: this means everything on the watch gets deleted so you may want to save photos and messages on parent’s phone first) This was a swift fix for me recently. For people saying the tracking is inaccurate. I beg to differ. This watch was misplaced at a school event last term and unknown to us kindly picked up by someone who had sent an email to tell us that night. We were able to track the watch next morning to the door of the person. If you are unsure whether to go for this watch: don’t be. I highly recommend. I was looking for a pre-smart phone alternative for a pre-teen. I checked all the available options that were a lot cheaper but the reviews were not great. The imoo watch was more expensive but has delivered on every point. The people who bought when it first came out had quite critical reviews but they have stepped up their game in the last couple of years and the recent reviews were really good so I took the plunge and have not regretted it. It’s a good alternative if you are not ready to expose your preteen to smart phone and social media. There are 10 people you can add to their safe list who can call them but they can make outgoing calls to any number which gives them control. The tracker function works okay but may be a few meters off sometimes: voice and video calls are great - extremely clear. The giff gaff sim has worked for us. Battery life is about 3 days. It’s been a win win. The app is easy to download and use. The class mode function is great as phones are not allowed in class. Preteen would love a few more emojis and maybe more games but all in all, a great buy

Great kids watch
Loving this watch so far for my son! GPS works fine once it's on UK network settings. Audio and video calls are also working well. It's given me peace of mind.

Brilliant but needs a bit of improvement
I am completely against the idea of children having smartphones and it saddens me that we have reached a point in human evolution that we can't even walk along the street without looking at a screen. I think the problem with giving children smartphones is partly because that parents don't know what else to do—they want to keep an eye on their children and for them to be contactable which is perfectly reasonable but smartphones are everywhere. After quite lengthy research I ordered one of these for my 10yo. I didn't like the idea of a dumb phone for fear it might cause ridicule or bullying so this seemed kind of a cool alternative and it's proven to be a complete hit. We bought it with a GiffGaff sim which costs us £8 p/m but I'm sure I could drop to a lower tarrif and so far we've had zero problems. My son isn't a bit bothered that it isn't smartphone, his friends think it's cool, we are able to see where he is, and we're able to call each other. The sound quality is just as good as any phone, video calls are excellent and he doesn't have to carry a device around with him as it's on his wrist. What lets this watch down is the messaging side of things. There are two ways to send messages; by SMS or via the Imoo app, both of which work fine, except that messaging is largely one-way i.e. we can send messages to the watch but the watch can only reply with a voice message and only if it's through the Imoo app. To explain that a bit better, if I send an SMS to the watch it's received ok but my son cannot reply to it at all. If I send a message through the Imoo app, my son can reply with a short voice message. This hasn't really caused a major problem but it is a little bit inconvenient. A lack of keyboard is perhaps partly the reason for this but there is a keyboard on the watch for entering the wifi password. The app also allows two way sending of an animated emoji type thing as messages, basically a character that looks like a rabbit with various meanings, but the emojis available on the watch are different to the ones on the phone app. We couldn't see a reason for that until my son made the astute observation that he thought the emojis sent from the app are mostly commands e.g. it's dinner time, bedtime, drink etc and the emoji's on the watch sent to the phone are mostly responses to this which makes a lot of sense. The "class mode" function is great allowing the watch to be disabled, except the telling the time, during certain times of day e.g. at school or at night time (although the watch turns itself off during the night and comes on again early morning). Battery life is good, it lasts about 2 days with normal use but charges quickly. All in all we're very pleased with it and don't regret buying it one bit. It's just a shame the messaging side is a little bit unorthodox.

Not a safety device by a long stretch
Consistent issues with the watch losing network connection in the imoo app despite having verified WiFi and 4g data available and according to the actual watch info, both operating fine. No connection means no location available and no way to message the watch / your child. This watch appears to be a novelty item and whilst fun for a child will only bring anxiety to parents when you can't observe location or make contact. Imoo support, whilst polite are largely tortuous, and I've lost hours of back and forth, try this and that, make a video, then often days or hours before a response and typically when they do respond it's a case of back to the start. The latest suggestion from imoo is to return the watch so they can observe it- no suggestion or offer of replacement. It feels very much like they do not recognise that these z1 watches are marketed and sold as a safety device to help locate your child. I would never recommend this device to anybody who is purchasing with safety of a child in mind.

Favourite Christmas present for my 6 year old .. all his friends want one now too !
Battery life is good - lasts more than a day when using class mode, maybe 2-3 and usually a full day when utilising all the functions off class mode . So I noticed another phone had been released from one of the big phone providers on the uk but subscription was required , which put me off . I put a GG sim in this one and the pay as you go bundles are really reasonable with no contract . Works well and no issues making or receiving calls .Free app is good given parents all the ability to implement parental controls remotely and receive alerts from the watch remotely too . GPS is fairly accurate - days my sim is next door when we are at home but we live in a semi and it’s accuracy is within so many metres so that’s fine and still fairly accurate. I put it in class mode and set that setting to allow calls to and from parents so he can call me in an emergency and I can call him when he is at after school club to check he is ok . Suggested improvements : I would suggest built in games and screen protectors to be included . My son has scuffed his screen a little around the edges , I ordered screen protectors but they were only available from abroad so they came a few weeks after the watch but they’ll prevent any further damage .... he’s extremely active so the fact the screen hasn’t broken after almost a month of everyday use is probably testament that the watch is robust . Lots of parents have been asking me about the phone now and for the link , all his friends want one and his chuffed he got it first :) . I don’t think he’ll ever forget this Christmas present . I would definitely recommend .

Peace of mind for parents!!
My son is 8 and is starting to want a bit more independence such as going to the park with his friends and I wasn’t comfortable with it even though the park is only a couple of minutes away. He doesn’t have a phone nor do I think children his age should have phones but we needed a way to contact him and keep an eye on him and this has been such a game changer. It’s VERY accurate, i’ve tested it a few times and am very happy with the results. It looks nice with his clothes and looks like a regular watch really so nobody asks him about it. It’s so easy and convenient to use. The video feature is great and it’s loud too so he never misses a phone call from us. Me and his dad both have the app on our phone to keep in contact with him, and he can call or text very easily. It needs a sim card so he has his own number and he can also call any number from the watch so I know he is safe wherever he is and has a way to contact us or god forbid emergency services. It’s comfortable and light ( never left any marks ) and he is happy to wear it all day. I even put it on if he goes on school trips and I can see where he is and check the app as much as I want for peace of mind. It also gives him a bit of independence so he is happier. There’s so many features on the app so you can set it up how you want. I honestly think all parents of young children should have one of these.

Could be great but ultimately disappointing
This is a great looking, sturdy and well built watch that my 10 year old was excited to receive for Christmas. Like many others parents we've been holding off giving our son a phone and were looking for a stop-gap solution that would let him keep in touch with approved contacts. I'll start by saying that if you're looking for a watch that only allows parents to contact their child and view their location, then this is a great option. But for an older child who has friends and relatives with phones, then it's an ultimately disappointing experience. Once the parent has approved a contact, the child is free to make and receive voice calls to that person. They are also able to receive text messages from that contact, but they have no way to reply. I'm not sure why this is - the phone does have a built-in keyboard for configuring WiFi passwords, but the child is not allowed to use this to send messages. The parent is able to install an app on their phone, which allows the parent to locate the child via GPS, start a video or audio call, send a text message, audio voice clip, photos and emojis. The child is able to make video and audio calls to the parent's app, send photos, audio clips, emojis, but not reply with a text message. If multiple parents install the app, there is also a family group chat. So the first thing my son wanted to do is contact his older cousin who has a phone. I added her as an approved contact and he was able to call her. Later she sent him a text but my son was unable to reply. So the next thing my son asked is if his cousin could install the app so he could send and receive photos and emojis. She installed the app, and then we found out she had full admin settings over the watch, which means she could alter any of the settings. There is no way to set some users (eg grandparents) to have a non-admin permissions. This means the child cannot ask friends or family with a phone to install the app - unless you are happy for them to have full admin access. So we allowed a few trusted family members to install the app (eg cousins and grandparents). The next thing my son asked for was to create a chat group with him and one set of grandparents. He wanted to be able to chat with some selected family members but not include everyone. This is also not possible. So in summary, he was left disappointed by the limitations of the app and it has not bridged the gap until he gets a phone. As a software developer myself I think these features would be quite easy to implement and would make a massive improvement to the experience.

Happy with product and eady
I set this up for my son tonight using the lebara sim card amazon highlighted that others buying the watch bought. It was really easy to set up. I was surprised how user friendly it was. Make sure the sim card tray is fully pushed in as i didn't at first. Also the lebara sim didn't have a pin code to remove.. the guide for the watch said to put it in your phone to remove the pin. I did put it in my phone to register the sim and attach my card details for top ups but didn't need to sort the pin before i put it in the watch. Once it was in you just scan a qr code in the booklet to bind it to your phone and you down load the imoo ap and control The phone settings, track child add approved phone no’s etc from there. Very straightforward!! So far at least! Tracking and calls tested and all appear working fine!

GPS preciso, chiamate chiare
Il migliore smartwatch su questa fascia di prezzo. L'orologio è arrivato nei tempi in una scatola composta dall'orologio, il suo carica batterie e istruzioni. E' adatto a bambini dai 8-11 anni in età pre cellulare.

Completely disappointed.
The price is way too high. The watches don’t last long. I bought two, and both stopped working after just a year and a half.

Great device. Very safe and child/family friendly.
Quite pricey, although the software is really good and it's built like a tank (very durable!). Speaking of the software in particular it's obviously developed in China, so you have to give a little leeway there. The UI wording could be doing with a little more work, but everything works exactly as expected and it's all quite cute - resulting in a very safe device for children that is also easy to use, despite being packed with features.
