good product
very thick shampoo, so don't need to use so much. It does not leave an odor in my hair. So far, this product is pretty good. It cleans, does not cause dandruff due to residue, leaves hair shiny. I don't have scalp issues, what I find is that it does not make it itch at least.

I've tried every shampoo for Eczema
I've tried pretty much every shampoo for Eczema and dry scalp. The only one that seemed to work was a particular brand of coal tar, that isn't being made anymore. My eczema is particularly bad in the summer. I searched online, and while I get the benefits of using all natural products, my experience is that they don't usually work as well as the chemical stuff (I know, horrible to say). So anyway, I decided to try it and when this stuff arrived I noticed that it said it works as an insect deterrent as well (WHAT?!). We have a camper so I packed it up and figured if it doesn't work for eczema, it can be my camp shampoo anyway... First time I used it I was having a hard time w eczema scalp (did I mention I didn't expect a lot)... First, the smell is amazing to me. I see all of the comments saying that it stinks. It smells like campfire, and I love it. It felt great, and I had to check the label to see if it was shampoo & conditioner, because that's how it felt. It wasn't, and actually I hated to use conditioner over the top of my campfire smell lol. But I did. I have thick, mangley, curly brown hair. It wasn't curly all my life and most of the time I just look like a cave lady because I don't know what to do with it. Every hairdresser straightens it, even though I tell them I'm not going to do that. I put in a little bit of coconut/Shea butter creme after using this shampoo and before I went to bed. When I woke up the next morning, my curls were soft, my eczema was already minimal (shocking!) and I didn't have to sign my hair down before going outside. So, I'm not kidding when I tell you that this stuff works. If you have course/dry hair, eczema on your scalp, or just like campfire smells... Get it. You will not regret it. As far as the insect deterrent, I can't really say if it helps because I use a conditioner over it, but if you're a dude I'd try it.

Best dandruff shampoo I've tried
I've had dandruff my whole life and this shampoo helped when almost nothing else I've tried had. The smell isn't great, smoky, but it isn't terrible, and it goes away within an hour of showering. 5 stars because I didn't think anything would ever work for me.

This Scent isnโt for the faint of heart.
Are you a fan of mezcal, cigars and the great outdoors? Do you enjoy the scent of eucalyptus, pine and smoke? Then this is for you. If not, hard pass on this one. The scent is probably the strongest Iโve come across in ANY hair product Iโve ever tried. The scent lingers throughout the day. The consistency is rich and thick and youโre definitely getting your moneyโs worth in that dept: a little goes a long way. Amazing lather. I donโt have any scalp issues and I know many of you might be eyeing this product for dandruff or other scalp issues. I canโt speak to this. Result for a full head of hair thatโs straight and on the fine side is great: Surprisingly soft and added some body and texture. Overall I give this 4 out of 5. Great shampoo (I bought the conditioner as well) The scent is very intense and part of me loves it now but not sure if I will a week from now. Either way, great stuff.

Best tar shampoo available.
If you need tar shampoo to improve the condition of your scalp, look no further. This stuff is the best out there. Great scent, gentle in the hair and scalp, and clearly improves my skin irritations.

Best shampoo I've ever used for psoriasis
I've had psoriasis on my scalp my entire life. I have tried everything imaginable, including prescription shampoos, but nothing really made that much of a difference. The old coal tar Denorex was pretty good, but the smell was so strong you could smell it from a mile away (I started getting in the habit of putting perfume in my hair). My scalp would get so itchy and flaky and break out, and many times I just ended up using face wash. I came across this at a local drug store and decided to give it a try. This is, by far, THE BEST shampoo I've ever used. The smell is a little strong, but nothing compared to coal tar shampoos, and it doesn't linger in your hair. A little bit goes a long way-- have long hair (mid-back) and one bottle will last me a few months. It is gentle enough that I can use it every day without irritating my scalp, but it cleans so well that I can go a few days without a bunch of buildup causing my scalp to break out. Using this, I honestly forget that I have any scalp problems, though I am promptly reminded when I run out and use regular shampoo (it hasn't even been a week and my scalp is already broken out). I am in love with this and cannot recommend it any higher.

Excellent Tar/Pine based shampoo.
Mild but pleasant scent. One of the best tar shampoos I've used. Helps definitely with itching. A bit pricey.

What am I using?!?
Am I using Packer's Pine Tar Shampoo and Conditioner, or straight up Pinsol floor cleaner? I CAN'T TELL!!! That being said, I'm basing my review on the performance on the product, and not the smell. I'm not overly fond of it, but hey, if Pinsol floor cleaner is your jam, you're gonna LOVE Packer's Pine Tar shampoo and conditioner. I've been using The Grandpa Soap Co. shampoo and conditioner for years, and I love the stuff - it works for me and my hair and it leaves it feeling clean, soft and fluffy when dry. That's my comparison. I recently ran low on the Grandpa stuff and wanted to try Packer's since I've seen a lot about them on Amazon, and I've used their pine tar soap, so I said, what the heck?, and pulled the trigger on the shampoo and conditioner. I've been using it for the last several days now and I must admit, it doesn't seem to be working as well the Grandpa stuff. My hair has a weight to it, almost as if it's greasy. A little bit of this stuff goes A LONG way, so I've scaled back on how much I use (less than a dime size for buzzed sides and and inch, to an inch and a half on the top) and I still feel the weight in my hair. I'm not sure I like how it's performing, so I'm not sure I'll stick with it. If things change, I'll update here. If I don't, that means nothing changed and I've given up on the product. Good luck to y'all! I hope you have a better experience than I do.

Amazing
Amazing shampoo, pine tar has it's own benefits as per Edgar Cayce readings. I'm extremely happy with it. The only issue is that twice the bottle came squashed and leaking? And another time the bag was ripped, but I guess that's just handling, I did get a refund for the broken bottles.

Lathers really well, good scent, great in hair.
This stuff lathers really nicely. If you've got hard water from your shower, I suggest this shampoo. The effects on your hair are very nice as well. I have a dry scalp usually, and this prevents that, and leaves my hair nice and silky soft. My dry scalp is gone. The scent is a kind of smoky pine, but it does not linger in your hair. When using it, the scent isn't subtle, but don't worry about smelling like pine all day (nothing wrong with that anyway).
