Perfect
This was one of my favorite games when I was younger. The storyline is awesome. I always hated how long it took to get from level/chapter to chapter but that’s part of the experience. Such a good game. With an Xbox 360 hard drive, you can play this on a 360. Which is what I did. The seller was amazing at sending item right away.If you want to play this game or any other Xbox games on a 360, you need an external hard drive. It has to be an original Microsoft Xbox 360 hard drive for any original Xbox games to play. It has to say Microsoft on the external hard drive.

Allow yourself the time to "get" it.
I didn't get it. When Shenmue first came to Dreamcast I didn't get why some people loved it. It plays out like a poorly dubbed 1970's kung foo movie. The game has tank controls, the English dub is poorly acted at times, you get lost on what you are supposed to do and the objectives are all over the place. The same problems are in the second game, released exclusively on original Xbox in North America. SHENMUE 2 continues the story from the first game, with a cut scene bonus movie on disc 2 retelling the events from the first game. (be sure you get two discs when purchasing) After years of avoiding Shenmue and hearing its praises from people, I finally gave it a try. I burned a copy off the internet and played it on my modded Original Xbox. Suddenly, I got it! I understood the charm and love people always have for this series. Since I always buy the games I download (because I am a game collector and because stealing is wrong) I knew I had to own a legitimate copy. I have seen prices ranging from $15 (one disc only, no box) to $50 complete. After two years of searching, I lucked out on Amazon and got a perfectly mint complete copy for $20. Is this the "Holy Grail" of Sega games? No. Is it a hidden gem? No, you either love it or hate it, and I understand why some people hate it. But regardless, it is a significant achievement in gaming history and inspired others to use many of it's new and innovative features in modern games. Personal review score: 8.5/10

Still a great game.
Understandable it does not have top notch graphics but it is backward compatible for 360 and I am a bit biased, the combat is a little crazy but the game overall is a lot of fun kind of feels like playing an old arcade game, I love the mini games more though LOL

The game takes a considerable amount of patience, but it's well worth it.
From the makers of the virtuafighter series and many other SEGA classics comes Shenmue II, a sequel for its SEGA Dreamcast predecessor which made gaming history. The game boasts a solide back story and many RPG elements that were pretty revolutionary in their time. The games fighting system is based on the origional fighting engine of the virtuafighter games, but it also involves reacting in a 3D environment. This inturn makes fighting groups of four or more a bit difficult. The game tries to make up for it with an evade/counter/block button, but useing even that takes patience, a good deal of practice, and near perfect timing. Granted once you've mastered the timing, it does make each combo and counter attack that much more satisfiing. Again, the back story is excellent, but there's alot of diolog to listen to, and you're limited to how much you can practice your moves outside of battle. More than anything, this game is trying to tell a good story; so have patience and try to enjoy it for what it is.

Only 4 shenmue fans
The dreamcast was ahead of its time, but got no love. The original Shenmue was also well ahead of its time. This series introduced sand box like environments, qte's, had actual in game time passage, and introduced gamers to the possibility of exploring the world around you. Shenmue 2 picks up the story where shenmue part 1 ends, and introduces more mini games, and a deeper plot that will leave you hanging at the end. Great game, not for noobie cod gamers, this game should appeal to OG gamers, because we lived through a time in gaming when passwords were a high speed way to save where you left off at in a game, and when Starfox on the snes was cutting edge graphics. The new generation of gamers will never realize what it was like when a game like shenmue came along, and how it's graphics and gameplay were truly awe inspiring.

One of my favorite childhood games!
This game is so fun and awesome!! I bought it as a Christmas game for my siblings (and myself lol) because we used to play it all the time as kids :D!! The only thing I have trouble with is that every now and then the game will freeze and I will have to restart my xbox. But now I have gotten so used to saving my game all the time that it doesn't matter too much. (it could be my xbox though since it's a bit old)

Great Classic!
I love this game! After playing modern games for so long now with dual thumbsticks, this game is a bit awkward to play as they didn't really make good use of the technology, but the story and themes in the game are great. I like a lot of the different open world tasks and objectives. It was pretty awesome for it's time. Great classic and I am happy to owe it again.

An all time classic game and cinematic experience.
This game is an absolute delight, it is full of amazing game play, a strong and cohesive story and continues where the original picked up. I highly recommend this gem to anyone interested and to those who might not otherwise think to get it. Shenmue 2 is a classic and deserves to be played by as many people as possible.
