About what you’d expect
I got this for myself to experiment with the materials for a craft project. My #1 complaint: not enough powder. It took 4.5 packets to fill the mold. If it’s “science” kids should be able to ask questions, make predictions, and try multiple methods.Still. My ball turned out better than many kit reviewers reported. (Yes, I looked at multiple products and a ton of reviews before deciding they were pretty much all the same. don’t judge :p).I modified my process based on other reviewer reports.1. Snap the mold together and pour the stuff in. (Do not expect this to be a simple click or mess-free. Duh.)2. Use warm tap water, and let it soak for 10 minutes (this might just be superstition since I didn’t have enough powder to try it any other way)3. It’s fine to leave it in the mold for 45 minutes (go eat a meal or play outside)4. When you take the mold off (again, not elegant or simple, but doable) expect to pick boogers off around the edges. Despite being a little damp still, my ball bounced pretty well on the table right out of the mold.5. Here’s potential for “science” if you’re into that. Check on it every hour or so as you let it set. Make predictions, share your reasoning, test the results, repeat.6. Spoiler alert, the ball will lose bounce as it dries out. This is not your new forever friend.

Too large?
We followed the directions but the ball still came out sticky and then lost its shape once it dried. I've made many of these but they were smaller. They're great and bounce well. I think the smaller size is probably better.

Cheap product
I wasn’t expecting too much with this product. And it didn’t even make an average ranking. Waste of the small amount of money it cost!

Love this product
My 4 year old grandson loved this mad lab. We saw it on YouTube and he had to have it. The process was simple and now that we have the mold maybe we can reorder more pellets to make another ball
