Solid system despite all the recent Synology drawbacks.
Solid performance. This is the first rack mount Synology I’ve owned everything else has been desktop (we have three 8 bay desktop NAS as well). This is excellent, although much louder than our desktops but it does have redundant power supply and a smaller form factor so to be expected.

Superb NAS
Superb NAS, cant go wrong with Synology. For all those people saying the unit makes a lot of noise, dont get a rack unit which is supposed to be on a datacenter if you are concerned about noise, get a desktop one. For enterprise users this is a GREAT unit, synology nas OS is simply the best, unit has redundant power supplies and 4 x 1Gbps connectors in case you want to configure in LACP bond mode.

RS1221RP+ Excessive Noise on the RP
RS1221RP+ Excessive Noise on the RP, the dual power supply seems poorly made, even tried switching to just one power supply but still noisy, switched to the RS1221+ and much quieter.

Device is unnecessarily loud due to redundant power supplies
I have over 40 dell servers, and more than 20 synology systems in production. This system is the loudest of all of them. I realize this is a rackstation, but the fans in the power supplies cannot be slowed down through software and are where the noise comes from. The DSM settings for sound only effect the chassis fans, and no setting modifies the sound. You cannot even hear the chassis fans on the loudest setting due to how loud the power supply fans are. In summary if you intend to run the device behind a closed door, it may be tolerable. I have not tested performance yet, and will update this review when I do.
