How to open this box? I am having a hard time 🤔

Even I do, most of the times just require to put in more effort...

It's easy to open. Lid can be open from upper side. Due to fresh piece it might have been jammed. Put some pressure from side and pull the lid. It will come out.

Can it be mounted upside down

Yes. With strong double sided tape.
