I have no say so as to how many boxes you can buy. I don't think Amazon had any restriction on how many you could buy.

Is the mailbox plastic?

The mailbox is not plastic. Architectural Mailboxes' Chadwick mailbox is durably made from galvanized steel for longevity then fully powder coated in a black finish with contrasting nickel flag. The Chadwick is equipped with an attractive cast aluminum handle and textured molded resin frame. It's a great mailbox.
