For the "gray stripe" curtain, is it white with gray stripes? Or gray with tan/taupe stripes? How would you describe each stripe color?

White with gray stripes - but, the gray is a little bit taupie! Each stripe is the same. The gray (instead of being pink/gray or yellow/gray or green/gray) - is taupe/gray. It goes well with our gray towels and gray shag rug.

Did anyone use this without a liner?

My hookless shower curtains never have a liner and it works fine! I trim off any excess fabric length and hem it. When it sometimes begins to mildew, after lots of use, l spray the bottom of the curtain with spay n wash extra well then wash in washer. I then hang it up immediatley on shower rod, no dryer.....good as new!

Would two white curtains work as a curtain and liner? also, any odor upon unpacking? tia.

No odor upon unpacking. You could use two curtains, however they are pretty think and not easy seen through. I got white and gray stripped curtain and it works great.
