I guess this was originally a collection made for PBS fundraising but now marketed for the general public, so its release is a little under the radar. Nice sound and everything sounds to be original versions (except for the Mike Love remakes) so an excellent purchase.

As a lover of the "west coast sound" I already had multiple variations of many of these tunes so I took a chance again (kind of like gambling on scratch tickets but at least there's still something to listen to when the cardboard crack fix disappoints) ~ any way this is the sonically the best sounding collection I have heard. So amazing is it! Remastered, remixed and most in real stereo, not the sixties style with instruments on one side and vocalists on the other side. The wonderful "beach music" collection on the fourth disc is superb, mostly east coast tunes. the stunner for me was on side one with the tune by the Intentions. Side 2 highlight for me was Ocean Boulevard, whoever Band of Oz is. the instrumentals on the third disc are excited and not tired old tunes. And then there's another great Beach Boy collection which features songs from 1962 to 1992 including a live "Summer in Paradise". You're a winner if you get this set.

The only problem with The Beach Boys CD is that somebody goofed with the typesetting!! I Get Around and Don't Worry Baby are listed incorrect order. Barbara Ann is track 17 rather than track 22. Nobody's fault!! Somebody better do some proof reading next time! My high school typing teacher would freak out! Other wise the set is awesome!!
