What is "all-purpose grind? Can this be used in an espresso machine?

I bought this Gaviña espresso "extra fine grind" coffee for my expresso machine. I noticed that it has a more difficult time making the espresso. When cleaning the coffee grounds after use,  I noticed that because it is "extra fine", it become extra compact, making it more difficult to pass water through. I suggest you only use this if you have a decent machine. Otherwise, I would suggest the regular Gaviña Expresso grounds that come in a white can instead of the gold. Hope this helps.

Hello, we here at Gaviña, use the Methylene Chloride method. Please see a brief explanation below of the entire process:

There are two methods of decaffeinating: Direct and Indirect:
In the direct contact method, the green coffee is placed in a rotating drum and softened by steam or approximately 30 minutes. They are then rinsed for about 10 hours with methylene chloride, which removed the caffeine. 
The solvent is drained away and the bans are steamed again to evaporate any remaining solvent. Virtually no solvent residue remains after roasting the coffee.

In the direct contact method, sometimes referred to as the “water process”, the green coffee soaks in a water/coffee solution near boiling for several hours. The solution draws out the caffeine and unfortunately flavor elements and oils.

The caffeine/water mixture is drained away and treated with methylene chloride, which absorbs the caffeine. The mixture is then heated to evaporate the solvent and caffeine. The newly treated mixture is then reunited with the green coffee and allowed to regain most of the coffee oils and flavor. The solvent never touched the green coffee.

The green coffee suppliers guarantee that the coffees are decaffeinated no less than 97.5% as established by the U.S. FDA. We hope this information has been helpful.

Can this be used with pour over coffee making single cup?

You can use it for a pour over. However, the fine grind is not a pour over grind. Pour over would be more coarse. You can make it work. Have a good filter.
