Yes I had this happen also. I just pressed the button and manually pulled the arms open. I think it just gets stuck. It’s done this a number of times and pulling them apart by hands always works.

A jar and a cap on a hot tub pump may be 2 different things. For jars it will expansion to open a med. To large jar. The bottom part grabs the jar and the smaller grips latches onto the lid to unscrew jar. It helps to hold the jar still on hard to open. Jars. Channel locks might work better on your how tub pump.
