Good quality, great product, ip67 is the most important.
So far the radios are working very well, they seem of very good quality. Very easy to program manually or using CHIRP software. They are a great value for the money. I haven’t test range but the receiving channel are very clear.

Great radio for the price!
The BAOFENG UV-9G GMRS Radio is great! It looks nice, very stylish and seems very durable! I picked the color black since I like the color black...lol. The battery seems to last a good long time and charges up quickly! And the price was just right! And it's a name I can trust! Just to add, it has so many features to it. It will probably take me a while just to see all that it does, so many configurations in the menu. Overall, a great ham radio for a novice like me! Would purchase again! Delighted customer here!

Decent Sound Quality, Rugged Design, Waterproof, Budget Friendly!
I bought the Baofeng GMRS-9R for my family after we got our GMRS license. While I bought some of the Baofeng GM-15 Pro units, the lack of IP67 rating turned me to look at this radio. I’ve been using the Baofeng GMRS-9R some time now, and it’s a very solid and decently performing GMRS radio. It offers nice durability at a good price point. What I liked: ✅ Waterproof & Dustproof (IP67 Rated): I’ve used this in the rain, dropped it in the dirt, and it just keeps going. Perfect for outdoor adventures, camping, or emergency use. ✅ Decent Signal & Range: With a high power output and support for all GMRS and repeater channels, I’ve gotten clear communication several miles around the areas we have used them. With repeaters we are getting 15 mile usage. It performs far better than the Walmart bubble-packed radios we previously had. ✅ Clear Audio & Loud Speaker: The sound quality has been really good, and it’s loud enough to hear even in noisy environments like trail rides or construction sites. ✅ Built to Last: It has a solid feel and feels good in the hand—definitely not cheap plastic. The included battery lasts all day, and the USB-C charging is super convenient. ✅ NOAA Weather Alerts & Extra Features: Weather channel access is a nice touch for outdoor use. It also includes a dual-watch feature and is programmable for more advanced users. Things to Know before you buy: ✅ You do need a GMRS license to Tx on this radio. Not to Rx, but to Tx you do. This is easy and can be had for $35 and filling out a form on the FCC website. Google this or Youtube and it should be straightforward. ✅ It’s a bit bulkier than the Baofeng GM-15 Pro, Radioddity GM-30, and Tidradio TD-H3 handhelds, but that’s expected with the waterproof design. ✅ It only offers 128 channels, of which 30 are for pre-programmed GMRS, 31-54 are for programmable GMRS repeaters, and the rest can be setup to Rx your local 2m/70cm frequencies / repeaters. It will not transmit on 2m/70cm. That is not legal with GMRS radios, in case you wanted to know. ✅ At the time of our purchase, it was not Chirp programmable, so it did require us to download the specific CPS to set it up. Not a super big deal, but had to get used to how it did things, versus Chirp, and had to download yet another CPS. Final Thoughts: If you’re looking for a tough, waterproof GMRS radio with solid range and performance that won't break the bank, the GMRS-9R is a fantastic buy. Great for preppers, off-roaders, hikers, or anyone who needs comms in rugged environments.

Solid, Reliable, and Built for Real Use!
I’ve been using the BAOFENG UV‑9G GMRS Radio for a while now, and it has impressed me on every front. The build quality feels rugged, and the IP67 waterproof rating isn’t just marketing—this thing can actually handle rain, splashes, and rough outdoor conditions without missing a beat. The NOAA weather scanner is a huge plus, especially for hiking and emergency prep. It picks up alerts quickly and gives me peace of mind when I’m out in the field. The radio’s range is also excellent for a GMRS handheld—clear audio and reliable communication even in wooded or obstructed areas. Battery life is strong, the menus are straightforward once you get the hang of them, and the overall performance is way better than what I expected at this price point. If you need a durable, dependable GMRS radio for work, camping, off-roading, or emergency use, the UV‑9G is an outstanding choice. Highly recommended!

You take your chances on whether or not it transmits on Ch15 and "bricks" with CHIRP
I have a couple of relatively inexpensive Baofeng UV-5G® GMRS-certified radios that I loan out to people. I have been quite pleased with these radios, but decided I would like to have the waterproof version – the Baofeng UV-9G® with an ingress protection rating of IP67. The UV-9G radios were selling for a reasonable price and according to the description on what was “fixed” (photo), these radios now supported the CHIRP software and “Enable to transmit on CH15 now. (Update the ‘Update to TX on CH15’ firmware…” which, with the lower price and this news, convinced me to purchase one of these radios. Big mistake! When the radio came in, I immediately connected it to my PC running CHIRP. The download of the original img file seemed OK and the upload of my revised img file seemed OK, but when I tried to transmit on Ch15 (the primary channel used by my development’s Safety Committee), it would not transmit. I then tried updating the firmware, which I eventually accomplished; however, while the Tx light would light up, nothing was transmitted to my other GMRS radios. I initially thought, perhaps I had made a mistake using CHIRP first, so I requested a replacement which the vendor quickly sent. This time, I removed the new radio from the box and immediately tried to transmit on Ch15 – no luck. So, I updated the firmware and tried again (photo) and, again, the Tx light would light up, but no transmission. I tried using Baofeng’s own programming software, but I could not get the software to work. I then tried CHIRP which essentially locked up the entire radio so it would not transmit on any channel! I returned that radio for a credit and I am waiting to see if that happens. I will say that a friend of mine (also on the Safety Committee) purchased two UV-9G radios and they could transmit on Ch15 right out of the box. Bottom line – you take your chances; you may get radios that transmit on Ch15 and work with CHIRP or they may not. All I know is that I wasted an inordinate amount of time trying to get these “inexpensive” radios to work and time is money, so in the long run, they cost me a lot and still did not work! I cannot recommend these radios unless you really do not care if they work on Ch 15 and you do not want to use CHIRP. PROS • GMRS-certified 2-way communication radios. • Waterproof with a IP67 rating. • Shipped with the programming cable. CONS • The two I tried would not transmit on Ch15 (our development’s primary safety channel). • Firmware was difficult to load and still did not allow me to transmit on Ch15. • Baofeng programming software never work with my PC with Windows 11 operating system. • Trying to use CHIRP essentially “bricked” the radio in that it no longer could transmit on any channel!
