Must have waffle maker
Been looking for a new waffle maker for a while. Something not too cheap but not too pricey with good quality and even cooking/baking. Came across several video reviews for the KRUPS and they were not wrong. Tried this out and absolutely love it. Easy to use, easy to clean and easy to store when not using it. Setting the browness to #3 makes the waffles perfect for my liking but I know my girlfriend likes it a little crispier so she likes at #4 setting. Cooks quite evenly too. Non-stick surface works perfectly. The manual says to grease it before putting the waffle mix in but to be honest, that was not really necessary. Works fine without greasing and the waffles slide right off with no issues. The only small gripe I have is with the power cord being able to wrap and hide during storage. I wish the plug portion could be hidden more or inserted into the bottom of the waffle maker but that is a small gripe and not that big of a deal.

Great Waffle Iron!
My son wanted a waffle iron for Christmas so I went researching options. I have three, each producing one large waffle at a time, because when I entertain a group one waffle at a time (@ 7 min. each) is not sufficient. I found this waffle iron and was so impressed I put it on my wish list as well. When I purchased it, the iron cost just under $56; I notice it is now selling for over $100 -- watch for lower prices! Update December 27, 2019. STILL love this waffle iron! It makes great waffles. I use a higher setting because we like them a little crispy. Also, the irons pop out and can be washed in the dishwasher, which is a HUGE benefit. I still have my old single-waffle irons to add to my Krups when I'm cooking for a crowd; they are a bear to clean; the irons don't pop out and it is very time consuming to wipe clean with a sponge and paper towels. LOVE my Krups! I made my first batch this morning and am very pleased! A few things: 1. I wiped down and then seasoned the iron as instructed. 2. I sprayed the iron with Pam before the first batch. With my other waffle irons I usually only need to spray before the first batch and then not again for the duration of cooking. However, with this iron, the second batch stuck -- not horrendously so (I was able to pull them off, but they tore a little). So I sprayed the iron before cooking each subsequent batch and it worked well. 3. The instructions say to close the lid, but they don't specify whether to close all the way to where it locks down. For my other waffle irons I gently lowered the lid (didn't squish it all the way shut), so I was afraid to lock down this lid. However halfway through the baking of the first batch I realized I needed to shut it all the way (instructions should specify this). 4. I started on setting "3" (medium) and the waffles were not crisp enough so I left them in another minute or so. The next batch I cooked on "4" and still wasn't satisfied with the crisp factor. The rest I cooked on "5" and loved the results! 5. Make sure you don't put more than 1/2 cup of batter in each section. It takes approximately 7 minutes to cook each batch. 6. I LOVE that the iron plates are removable for easy cleaning! This is definitely not the case on my old waffle irons. Love, love, love this feature! A single recipe of my Belgian waffles made 7 large round waffles in my other irons. When I cook for a group I always make a double batch. The double batch recipe made 24 waffles in this iron. Make a ton and freeze them in large Zip Loc freezer bags, separating layers with waxed paper. Just toast them right out of the freezer (don't microwave them!). My recipe for Belgian waffles (it's the bomb!). This recipe makes 12 waffles (3 batches of 4). Figure on 2 - 3 waffles per person; make a double batch for a large crowd. 2 cups light sour cream 2 lg. egg yolks (save whites!) 1 cup low fat milk 5 tbl. butter, melted, slightly cooled 4 tsp. sugar 2 tsp. baking powder 1 tsp. salt 1/2 tsp. baking soda 2 cups bread flour 3 egg whites (dump the last yolk) 1. Combine all ingredients except bread flour and egg whites in a large mixing bowl and stir to combine. 2. Stir in the bread flour, just until flour is moistened (don't try to remove every lump). 3. Beat 3 egg whites until stiff and gently fold into batter. 5. Spray top and bottom of Belgian waffle iron with Pam and heat. When the iron is ready, spoon in ½ cup of batter, and close and lock the lid. When iron indicates waffle is done, remove and repeat.

Excellent purchase
I love my new waffle maker. Now i am trying all the waffle recepies I find online and they always come out great. Excellent quality and temperture control. It beeps when ready. The batter never spills out over the machine. The best feature is the removable surfaces, as I can place them in the washing machine for a perfect cleaning.

Excellent in most ways - but it's challenge to make truly crispy waffles. My solution below.
Well made, works well, removable plates make cleanup easy. A major reason I bought this instead of the flip waffle makers was because it takes up a lot less space. Unfortunately, this model doesn't generate quite enough heat, and has lightweight aluminum plates that don't hold their temperature well when you add batter. The challenge, then, is to make proper waffles with a crispy outside and just fluffy enough interior. After some experimentation, I have adapted to the Krups this recipe for baking powder (as opposed to yeast-raised) waffles: Preheat the waffle iron on maximum setting. Whisk together dry ingredients: 1¾ cups all-purpose flour ¼ cup cornstarch 2 tbsp buttermilk powder 1 tbsp sugar 1 tsp baking powder ½ tsp baking soda 1 tsp salt Whisk together wet ingredients: ¾ cups water ½ cup milk 6 tbsp (¾ stick) melted butter (I like to use a whole stick), cooled to room temp 2 egg yolks 1 tsp vanilla Whip 2 egg whites with a hand mixer to soft peaks (not stiff, the way some recipes recommend). Gradually pour the wet ingredients into dry while whisking. Fold the egg whites gently into the batter with a spatula. Pour a couple of ladles-ful of batter into the heated waffle iron. Cook at maximum setting until it beeps, but don't open it - wait until the steam mostly stops coming out - about another 2 minutes (up to you to decide the done-ness you prefer). I don't try to cover the entire plates with batter - my waffles come out round which also puts less thermal load on the already underpowered device. Notes: If you don't have buttermilk powder, then skip the water and use 1¼ cups milk (or the same amount of actual buttermilk). If you aren't incorporating the acidity of buttermilk or buttermilk powder, increase baking powder to 2 tsp, and skip the baking soda. More butter, less sugar, crispier waffles. Don't leave out the cornstarch. It helps. I have found that when I make the waffles this way, the leftovers are also good over the next few days. I break up the waffles into quarters and freeze them, tightly wrapped. They defrost and warm up nicely in the toaster, and aren't either soggy or dried out.

Way Better Than My Old One!
Been using a budget friendly waffle iron by Cuisinart until the plastic on it began to fall apart after years. Since I prefer waffles I decided to spend a little more this time and boy have I been missing out!! I used my same recipe and these waffles with my new Krups were thick, fluffy, cakier and delicious. The waffle sections are 4 X 4 each and the pockets are deep. I love that the plates detach and can be put in the dishwasher or hand washed with ease. It takes a little longer to cook than my old one but it's worth it because it actually bakes the waffles with care, there's no messy spillover. I used some non stick spray too. This stores away nicely with a place to tuck away the cord. Real waffles!

Just what I was looking for!
This is the best waffle maker I've ever bought. It made huge beautiful fluffy waffles in minutes. Heat distribution was on point. Easy clean up and it stores easily with the cord wrap around in the back. Highly recommended.

Incredibly impressed!
WOW! That’s the best word I can use to describe this waffle maker. The day it arrived, I got it out of the box and turned the dial up as far as it would go and just let it burn off for about 20 minutes to get the initial non-stick coating smell burnt off. That night, I prepared my sourdough waffle batter and let sit all night. The next morning, I turned the machine on and got to work. READ THIS IF YOU WANT TO FREEZE AND POP INTO TOASTER LATER: I honestly have never made waffles before, but read a review saying that setting 3 is best for waffles that you’ll be freezing and popping into a toaster. So glad I found that review, because the advice was spot on! Perfectly fluffy waffles on setting 3! They don’t have any crisp to them, which is perfect if you’re going to be freezing and reheating in the toaster. CLEANUP (NO COOKING SPRAY NEEDED!): Cleanup was zero. All the pictures I’m sharing are what the machine looked like directly after removing the last batch of waffles. No spray necessary! The trick to it not sticking is to allow it to fully come to temperature before dumping your batter in AND allowing it to come back to temperature once the waffles are cooked (don’t lift the lid to “peek!”). The green light will turn on and 3 loud beeps will sound to indicate that 1) the waffle maker is to temp and 2) Your waffles are ready. Trust the beep! AMOUNT OF BATTER: I make sourdough waffles, and my batter isn’t crazy thick (see photos). I have found that ever so slightly less than a half cup fills each space just fine with very little to no overflow as it cooks. ADDRESSING COMPLAINTS: Some reviewers mentioned the handle getting hot…this was definitely NOT the case for me. The machine would accumulate condensation around the front from the steam, but it never made the handle feel at all hot. Secondly, my plates seem to be staying in place just fine. The top one jiggles around a little as you lift and lower the lid, but it’s not falling out. The buttons used to remove the plates seem to work just fine. LONGEVITY: Unfortunately, I can’t yet speak to its longevity, but I sure do hope it lasts me a good long while, because this machine is incredible and beautiful. It offers all the options I wanted (sturdy design, easily stored, multiple Belgian waffles at a time, removable plates, beep to indicate when done). I couldn’t have asked for a better waffle maker. Well worth the investment!

Good waffle iron
For the most part, I really like this waffle iron. The plates are easy to remove and put back in, and wash up nicely. I prefer to wash them by hand because they tend to get spots when they go in the dishwasher. My biggest issue is that the handle tends to get very hot. I need to use a pot holder to open it. I think it needs a silicone sleeve or something. My waffles always take almost twice as long to cook as the iron thinks, but I'm guessing this is because I'm using a high protein cottage cheese batter with not a lot of gluten free flour.

Great machine , super performance and reasonable price.
Love it! best thing for me is the ease of cleaning. plates come off easily. perfect square waffles every time. the settings for browning are pretty accurate every time. I have been using for past 1.5 years; no complaints so far. I have used it for all sorts of recipes like classic waffles, savory recipes, sandwiches, tortilla waffles, potato waffles. I was eyeing to buy another brand waffle maker for a long time but could not justify the price of that one. I am glad i found this gadget on Amazo for a fairly decent price. machine to me feels like heavy duty. it is easy to store for me. i just store it lengthwise than putting it flat as i have a pretty small kitchen. I have not found that the handle gets hot or anything so far like some other users have commented., neither have i found the machine to be messy or dripping. Only thing that I wish from this machine now is that if they can somehow make plates for sandiwches or plane plates like some other brands have for their waffle machines to switch. Nevertheless I am pretty happy with this purchase.

This is the perfect waffle maker!
This is an amazing waffle maker. Waffles for our family were perfect on #4 setting. I have had many other brands of waffle makers, this Krups brand is the best I’ve ever owned. I love that this one makes a sound when the iron is ready for batter and finished once the waffles are ready; no guessing is required for this maker! The lid locks on its own once closed and releases with an easy press once finished. The plates are removable with an easy press of the side buttons and wash easily . The plates are also labeled on the edges for the top plate and bottom plate. It stands up in the cabinet and takes no space compared to other brands I’ve used. This purchase is well worth it. I would recommend it.
