Works when other methods failed
Bought to use on dull car headlights. The best results & easiest way I've found to do myself without paying outrageous costs to have done. A good 3M product

good rubbing compound to get out swirls and wet sanding scratches
i've always liked 3m products, and this one did not fail me. i used it with my Porter Cable dual action polisher and Lake Country CCS yellow cutting pad to start detailing my wife's 2006 Subaru, which was purchased used, and on which the paint was already looked pretty blah . I had wet sanded with 3000 grit 3m Trizact sand paper some of the deeper scratches first, which left those spots rather dull and full of finer scratches. My first step after that was to use this compound. It took out all the fine scratches from wet sanding as well as all the swirl marks on the car, leaving the paint looking great. I was pretty impressed. The areas that were wet sanded needed to be gone over slowly with a decent amount of pressure, and sometimes i needed to go over them a second time with more compound put on the area, but they got out. The areas that just had swirl marks were smoothened out fairly easily, but still going over the area a few times within the same "pass." Which brings me to one point - you have to use this methodically. check out youtube on proper compounding procedures with a DA polisher, and you'll see how they move the polisher slowly, covering the same spot multiple times in one pass. Think about what you have to do when you sand wood. it's no just a quick swipe over the area. You have to go over it a good bit before it's fully sanded down. This is the same concept. You're essentially sanding - very fine sanding - the car's clear coat. I polished after this step, but honestly, it didn't look much different. which is to say, that this compound leaves a good finish. You do want to polish to further smoothen out the clear coat, so don't skip that step. The only "negative" is that there's a lot of dust that come from this, but seriously, i haven't dealt with a compound or fine cut cleaner that doesn't. just have a bunch of microfiber cloths handy to wipe it down.

Fast and easy headlight restoration! Great
I used this to restore my headlights. Great value and easy to use. I was pleasantly surprised at how quick and easy this was to use and how well it worked. I had seen other products but they seemed complicated. And I didn't want to be bothered with all that. I used a rag, and some water (no power tools or buffing or tape) and to be honest very little effort or attention to detail Lol. It took just a few minutes. If you have patience and really work it or have a buffer you'll probably get even better results. (Or if your a guy Lol) I was very happy with the results and how simple and easy it was to get results. So far the restoration has lasted a several weeks. I definitely recommend you give it a try.

One of the best products ever made.
I have been a very loyal purchaser of this product for years. I've bought the Meguire's scratch remover, many polishes, many waxes. Nothing comes close. I live in a crazy beach environment. Thanks to tourists and drunk people the only parts of my 2009 Jeep Liberty than haven't been repaired and repainted are the hood, roof, and rear gate. It is constantly hit with car doors, inflicted with unexplainable scratches... but it's paid off, has been a good car, and I want it too look nice for as long as possible. A car wash put a four inch deep scratch in my hood. I have a new bumper swipe on the back from someone who couldn't parallel park, and there are deep scratches in the left painted plastic fender (maybe a bike?) This rubbing compound shined the scratch in the hood so it's barely noticeable. Sure there is a scar in the shine when looking at an angle, but the noticeable white scratch is gone. Same with the fender although the plastic took more work. The rear bumper cleaned up great. Oxidation from parking on the street in salt air is a breeze. I'm not a body technician so I wouldn't be comfortable using power tools with this. It's so effective by hand that with tools used incorrectly, I know it could burn right through the paint. It is exactly what you would expect from 3M and it works. It might not make some types of damage perfect but it's the best thing on the market for making it better.

Let's be absolutely clear...
This stuff is magic! Like many reviews have stated - I saw the same YouTube video using 3M buffing compound to renew weathered headlight lenses. I've owned my car (since brand new) for 17 years. Despite the fact that it has never been garage kept; It sill looks as new as the day I bought it. The only dead giveaway of it's age were the hazed over, yellowed headlight lenses. Applied with a simple t-shirt, hand scrubbed and polished , in less than 10 minutes my headlight lenses were absolutely crystal clear with no yellowish tint. Just a side note: There are no aftermarket or OEM replacement headlight LENS for my car. The entire headlight assembly; New or Used, has to be replaced. Ebay "pre owned" = $189 ea. New (OEM)/aftermarket = $298 - $400 ea. Under $20 +10 minutes of my time + an old t-shirt = like new results.....You do the math ;)

Seems ok
Goes on good and seems to be the trick. You have to use some elbow grease to get it off and rubbed in good. All was good until I washed my car the next week and it seemed to leave a film and it was even more elbow grease to get those off. Now it looks just like it did before scratches and all because I just do not have the time to invest in reapplying. It was a good temp fix!

a very refined rubbing compound easy on easy off
this is a truly amazing product by 3M first off a little goes a long way it will handle all surfaces scratches with ease all it takes is a very gentle rubbing motion even with slightly deeper scratches an improvement will be noticed I could not be any happier with my results I highly recommend this product yes of course there are less expensive products however some end up making the scratches and swirl marks worse than before I would not hesitate to buy another bottle when the need arises once more anyone who takes their car through carwash with spinning brushes will be very much aware of the swirl marks left behind well this product will diminish them just be patient and gently rub each mark with the rubbing compound I am sure you will see a significant improvement if not a complete eradication

Not quite as abrasive as I would have liked
I love 3M automotive products. They are the best in the industry and nothing compares to their Perfect-It products. I had high hopes for this rubbing compound. I had been using a Meguire's cutting compound which cuts quickly. I wanted to try a 3M product, but this is a little mild for my taste. I was only trying to polish plastic lenses on which I had worked up to 5000 grit sandpaper. It took three attempts with a 3" orbital polisher before I was confident that I could finish it off with 3M Perfect-It #3 ultra-fine polish. That's a lot of work. I would have preferred a more aggressive compound. It's great otherwise and you may want a very mild compound. If so, this would be great. I wanted something more aggressive.

Worked great! Quick shipping!
Great Product, I'm not sure if this would be considered 3M's "Professional" line of products, but does a similar job for a cheaper price! I had painted a bumper and wanted a good shine after clear coating. I used 1500 grit sandpaper followed by this product to achieve a good result, which was then followed by a less abrasive polish then wax. I was impressed with the overall final product. It is an abrasive product, so its good for scratches, and I've also used it on cloudy headlights with good results. If you're looking for something that is a light polish and not too abrasive, I would try a different product; however, this is an excellent compound when used for its intended purposes. I live in Eastern Canada, and the ship time was very quick!!

Excellent for headlights
Bought to freshen up sun damaged headlights, did an excellent job. Also used to refresh the powder coat on bullbar.

Ideal product
I needed this due to 'milky' plastic headlights. After a lot of rubbing this stuff works. Don't expect it to work instantly but it actually works with some work.

Excellent produit
L'oxydation sur mes phares automobiles s'est facilement enlevé en quelques minutes. C'est une voiture de 7 ans et demi. Très heureux de la facilité avec lequel se produit fonctionne parfaitement pour ce genre de travail.
