I purchased a humidifier because the Northern air gets so dry, and then running heaters in the winter time, compounds the matter even worse. Did you know that experts have proven that, if the air gets too dry, you can get sick easier? I feel so much better when I humidify the air, I breath easier, and sleep easier as well. Plus, if the air gets too dry, you can also shock yourself on everything in your home, thats usually an indicator that your humidity is bellow 30%. I also purchased a humidity meter from the acurite brand, as I like to know where my humidity levels are at all times. Just for reference, if you can keep your humidity levels around 40% to 50% MAX, you will live happier. I have owned this humidifier for 2-years now, and I can tell you right now, that longevity is pretty good so far. I bought this for large rooms, so that I have the output if necessary. The resovoir holds up to 1-gallon of water, and its really easy to fill. Just lift the container off the base, flip it over, remove the fill cap, fill all the way up, replace cap, put container back down onto base. On the first use, you will see lots of bubbles, while the water fills up the base resovoir where the transducer is located, that creates the ultra sonic vaporization. This unit comes with two nozzles. The directional nozzle, and the 2-way nozzle. Use the directional nozzle when placing this unit near a wall, you obviously don't want to shoot water vapor into your wall. When used in an open space where there is at least 3 feet all around the unit, use the 2-way nozzle to get higher flow. Additionally, the on/off knob also controls the flow amount. Depending on how bad the humidity is, use 50% to 75% flow, for small rooms. For use in large rooms, maintain 100% flow unless water begins to form around the unit and surface it is on, then back off on the flow. This is why I highly recommend the use of a humidity meter. I like being able to know where my humidity is at all times. I do not want to exceed 50%, as it will get far too humid. But I also don't want to drop bellow 30%, and would rather keep it at a happy 40% medium. Its also nice having the meter cause in the summer time, we don't want humidity, so I can pay attention to what the humidity is doing, while I run the 2-AC units. Also, this unit has a LED light mode, up to three colors can be chosen, and can be turned on by pressing the touch sensor button, just above the flow control knob. I do wish that the max flow had a higher rate then it does, and a higher push into the air. However, for what it does do, I am pretty happy with it. This unit is also fairly easy to clean as well. I use filtered water from a Britta jug, so the deposits don't get too bad. If you use tap water, you will only breath disgusting water vapor, and will lesson the life of your unit, making cleaning more difficult. Using filtered water, I only really need to do a rinsing once a week, and a cleaning of the transducer, with the included brush. And a final cleaning with 1-cup distilled white vinegar with mostly water solution, before putting up for storage. Keep the unit clean and you should have no problems. I highly recommend it, 5-STARS! UPDATE Jan 7th 2019! I wanted to give everybody an update on how this humidifier is doing. It is now 3-years old, and it is still working! I know, hard to believe, when we know how quickly things die these days due to planned obsolescence. I have the humidifier running right now infact, as after the rains stopped again, the humidity went down to 34%, and I decided to start humidifying. The unit is still in pretty good condition, I do have some discoloration within the transducer area due to wear, I don't think much can be done about that besides a straight vinegar cleaning. Speaking of which, I have run a 1-cup vinegar to full tank of water in the tank to clean it out. I just let it sit for 30-minutes, and then cleaned it out. Now, if the deposits that form that yellow gooyness is really bad, the vinegar treatment will at least break it up to make it loose its bond, then you can fish a paper towel through inside the hole to clean off the bottom inside of the tank. Again I can't stress enough how important it is to use filtered water. Companies advertisements always lie to consumers making them think they can use tap water. Sure, but if your tap water is hard water like ours, it will dirty up your humidifier so darn fast, you'll be cleaning it every day! At least filtered water, such as that from a Britta jug container, will at least extend your cleaning times to once per week, and then at least 1 or 2 vinegar cleanings per year of use. Cleaning is important with this product for your health, as you want to breath clean moisture in the air, but don't cause yourself unnecessary labor by using tap water please. The humidifier is still able to push out its full power as it did in the first 2-years of use. One thing I've noticed over the years is, the colder the water is, the longer it takes to get going. We keep our Britta jug in the fridge, cause I don't like to drink room temperature water, and when the freshly cold water runs in the machine, it takes time for it to build up the moisture vapor till its going full strength. But this machine does a really good job in bringing up the humidity in the room. One of the things I like about it as well, is that its efficient on power consumption. Since were using a lot of electricity running space heaters, since its winter and all, I am grateful for the low consumption of the unit. Anytime you have a heating device, it uses a lot of power. Its just one of the reasons why I don't like steam based humidifiers, cause your running elements in there that draw a lot of power. And cold running humidifiers, use transducers, which generate ultrasonic vibrations, which vaporizes the water instead, while a onboard fan, pushes the vapor out. I still highly recommend this humidifier and I keep the rating at 5 out of 5!

Absolutely love this product! For the sake of full disclosure, I wanted to mention the price of the humidifier was covered by Pure Enrichment. That being said, I was indifferent to the idea of getting a humidifier in the first place because my impression of them was what I had in my house growing up. A big, loud, ugly plastic thing that scared my cat. I would have never picked this product on my own, but I am happy that I got it now. I will explain why below. Why I love it: Sleek design! Doesn't look like an "old man humidifier". I can keep it in the front room when guests are around and it isn't an eyesore. The different color light display helps too. Can be used as a nightlight if used in children's room and the light display can be turned off for those who don't like lights on when they are sleeping if you keep it in your room. Adjustable knob to control the intensity of the flow of humidified air. Operates quietly! This is important to me since I sleep with this humidifier in my room. It also doesn't frighten my cats, which is a plus. It is much nicer to go to bed with the gentle sound of water than to the rumble and clanking of some angry sounding machine. I was concerned when I saw it was capable of holding up to one gallon of water that it would be a beast of a machine, but the only sound you hear when it is operating (even at its highest capacity) is the occasional sound of water tinkling while it is running through the machine, which I find relaxing. The one gallon capacity is also nice, since you can leave it running for a long period a time before you have to refill it again! Easy to figure out. Seriously. Everything is straight forward. You plug it in. Take the transparent part that holds the water, fill it with water, place the cap on, place in the basin (the white part of the machine with the cord attached). Make sure the tube and cap line up to where there is a corresponding spot for it in the basin. Turn the knob to the level of flow you would like. Bam! You got yourself a running humidifier. If you want to get fancy you can hit the little button with the blue light on it for different color displays.

Humidity in large room will maintain at 31% even if outdoor humidity is less than 5%. Large room equates to downstairs den and kitchen. This is with no dry heat running. Product operating in small rooms quickly gets humidity down to 40% within 10 minutes even with relative low humidity. The unit comes with a dual or single mist nozzle, I use the dual. The mist nozzle located at the top turns so if you have close to a wall or you want the mist on you you have that option without fumbling with the entire unit. I mostly have the unit on a table at time misting on me when my skin is super dry or when I just want to relax with better air moisture. My husky kept jumping on the couch so I put the unit on the floor, he found it soothing and relaxing too. Static electricity was horrible, husky was getting shocked every time he moved. I'm not thrilled about the nooks and crannies to clean, but I found a good YouTube to watch that provides a chemical free way with regular cooking items. I clean this everyday and alternate days outside in the sunshine to completely dry. I did a lot of reading and these types of units can cause bacteria buildup....keep it clean. I had a honeywell with filters but the humidity on this unit us better, and the filters on the honeywell got pretty disgusting with little use. I bought this unit with a $15 off, so full price. I think without the discount it would of been a little pricey, but I haven't compared with other units. For me, the less technology the less chance it will break, just keep it simple and focus on performance....I just need humidity indoors. Sure it has a nice light but not selling point for me. I would recommend this product and my husky recommends it too. Just make sure you keep it clean. Happy owners.

[Update added below.] I absolutely love this humidifier. I've tried several evaporative units, but they were way too loud, heavy, and a pain to clean, plus they have ongoing costs with filters. Well...this little baby is super-quiet, streams up mist at whatever rate you want, it's very easy to fill (take off the spout, and there's a little fold-up handle that some buyers don't seem to know about), and once the spout is off, it sits easily in the sink while you fill the tank. Plus there's a little cleaning brush clipped into the base. All very nice touches, but they're easy to miss since the design is so sleek and well thought out. This humidifier is actually sweet-looking, too! Love the nightlight feature...so cool! But it's the humidifying feature that's most important, and it does the job very well. Remember, this is a one-gallon tank, so on full steam, it'll last about 12 hours, but it's so easy to fill that it's not a problem for me. Again, dealing with evap units was such a pain that this is a breeze in comparison. This is definitely a room humidifier, so don't expect it to humidify a whole house or even a very large open area. But it's so unobtrusive and cool looking that I don't mind if I need a few to place around the house. Oh, and when I had a problem with the first one I bought, Pure Enrichment was so great, they offered to refund me or replace the unit without needing to send the defective one back. Wow! They were professional, friendly, and extremely customer-centric. Easily the best customer service I've experienced. All that and a five-year warranty? Amazing. I love this humidifier and this company. If and when I need another, I'm buying one from these guys. Edit: February 20, 2021 I did end up buying another of these units, and after four years, one of them is still going strong, but the other isn't working so well—sputtering and making loud noises—so I emailed the company, and they got back to me within a day. They asked for some info and a video of the problem, so I sent that, and within another day, they emailed saying they're sending me a replacement unit! How cool is that! This is such outstanding customer service! They made it totally easy for me, and I'll tell you, these units are so great. On these cold, dry days, the steam billowing out of these humidifiers really helps. These are great humidifiers, and Pure Enrichment is an awesome company!!!

I must say I was not sure I was going to like this unit but I gave it a try and I LOVE IT. I am not using it for health reasons at the moment however I will be getting another one for my bedroom soon. I am actually using it to raise the humidity level in my sunroom for my orchid plants and for the last 2 weeks I have been keeping the level around 55% which is perfect for my plants. Not only are they thriving at this level but the sunroom is connected to the kitchen and with the higher humidity level I feel so much better when I am in that room. That being said I will be getting another one soon for my bedroom now that I see how truly wonderful this humidifier is. The unit is working at just over 1/2 the full output and keeps the humidity level at a constant 55-58% level and my plants are very happy with that. I only need to refill the unit once every 24 hours and this only takes about 4 minutes total and that is even with a good rinsing and cleaning all the parts with the brush provided with the unit. Once a week I clean it really good and let it dry out for awhile and then start over again. I can't tell you how pleased I am with this unit. I have read the reviews about the white dust problem if you have hard water which I do. I find that as long as I keep the unit running at just over the 1/2 level output that I don't have this problem but will be honest that any higher I do have a problem with the white dust. Please note this is NOT a problem with the unit itself as this problem would happen with any ultrasonic humidifier if one has hard water. When you get your unit there will be a certificate to get a decalcification cartridge that is supposed to help with the white dust problem. I am anxious to see if the cartridge will help with this and if I can raise the volume up a bit to keep the level at 60% all the time without the white dust problem as 60% is truly ideal for orchid plants. I can't understand why there are any negative reviews at all. ??? If others would only live with the unit and get to understand how it works with the conditions of their own house invironment I am sure the negative feedback would be reduced by far as this is truly a great humidifier. As to how long being run 24/7 this humidifier will last I am not sure at this point because I have had it only going on three weeks but I am the type of guy that will be very grateful with pushing these machines to the limit of everyday use for the purpose I want it for even if I have to replace the unit a couple of times a year it will well worth the money to have the most beautiful flowers in the world thriving in my own home and not have to enjoy them in a greenhouse somewhere or in picture only. I called customer service today as I wanted to find out about the decalcification cartridge coupon that came with the unit. They were extremely helpful and very kind and answered all my question without making me feel rushed. I hope you will give this humidifier a go as I think you will enjoy. Now if the cartridge works to help with the white dust caused from having hard water and I can raise the humidity level to 60% 24/7 I will give this unit a 10 star rating and without I still give it a 5 but it really should be a 6.

This humidifier is a real life saver. I suffer from seasonal allergies and one of the worst side effects is the chronic dry eyes in the morning. Coupled with the currently plummeting temperatures in my area, which requires running the heat at night, and you have a recipe for some very dry eyes and often chapped lips. We have forced air heat, so the dry air is harsh on your skin and eyes. Well, I've finally found relief. I purchased this unit due to my stellar previous experiences with other Pure Enrichment products. I have used other humidifiers, but they were either too effective - even my sheets felt heavier (damp) due to the collected moisture - or they sounded like a power transformer was in my room with me. Sleep was not easily found when you have a Hoover next to your bed. The Pure Enrichment Ultrasonic Cool Mist Humidifier XL - 1-Gallon Water Tank with Variable Mist Control, Automatic Shut-Off, and Soft Night Light Options solved my problems. Not only is it whisper quiet, but it actually has an adjustable output which goes from a faint mist to visible fog. I almost forget that it is on when I awake, so I've forgotten to turn it off more than once. The optional 'night-light' feature does help me remember on most mornings, and the fact that you can set it to 'red' light means it doesn't keep you awake at night with blue, retina-triggering light. Regarding the adjustable output, I keep it around the lowest setting (for now) because I find it doesn't saturate the room with moist air, but it does alleviate my dry eyes and chapped lips in the mornings. The directional port on the top is great because it keeps the moisture exactly where I want it - on me. I haven't yet experienced any negative issues with the output or water usage, so I cannot offer any insight regarding those aspects. I also don't use it at full output, so I don't expect to run into any troubles. I've turned it to max just to see the difference and I can confirm that it definitely is putting out some serious moisture. However, it doesn't seem to be like other humidifiers I've tried in that it doesn't 'spatter' excess water when on it's full power. It does come with a dual port replacement head which theoretically doubles the possible output but allowing a second exhaust port for the moisture. I've only installed it and turned it on to test, so I also cannot speak to long term use. While I do like to fully test new appliances that I purchase, I also have sensitive electronics around my house so I cannot risk running a humidifier too high. All in all, I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this unit to others who are looking for an adjustable humidifier to help alleviate some of the common issues with dry air. You won't be sorry.

Bought this because of all the 5-star reviews... The first impression was good. It was very quiet and put out lots of vapor. Then... Leaked twice in only one week of usage. It did not regulate the water level well in its basin, so water seeped out. First time I thought it was a fluke. Then it happened again in the middle of night, water dripped off the kitchen counter and caused water damage on our hardwood floor. Also the fan got noisier after just 3 days. And noticed a long crack in the blue reservoir along the sloped side, though water did not leak from there. Returning to Amazon. [Update 2017.01.27] The vendor saw my 1-star review. Sent me another unit and asked me to change my review. So here it is. I ran it in the kitchen sink. No problem for two weeks, then it leaked again. It just doesn't know how to regulate water level in the basin. I have had several humidifiers over the years (they all seem to fail after 4-5 years) so I know it's not me. I was also able to replicate the long crack on the slope side of the tank on the second humidifier. When I fill the tank and flip it over by holding the flimsy handle on top. The handle joint put so much stress on the tank, the tank cracked. Though again, the water did not leak from the crack. Unlike the first unit, the second unit stayed quiet throughout. Very nice. So I would definitely rate the vendor 5-star for going out of the way to resolve issue, but the humidifier itself remains 1-star.

Needs an on off switch

This product pumps out the humidity really well. It effectively humidified a 500sqft room and is almost completely silent. The reservoir lasted over 12 hours on high - amazing! It was simple to use, just turn the dial to your desired humidity output level. The in-tank colour changing lights is a nice feature and works well. Unfortunately I will not be keeping this humidifier for two (personal) reasons: Firstly, I purchased it for use in a bedroom and although you can turn off the light inside the reservoir/tank, there is a light behind the button to toggle the tank light that is permanently on if the humidifier is running. It lit up our dark bedroom pretty substantially. Although this might be fine for a kids room or a room you aren't sleeping in, we found it bothersome. Secondly, the tank is very difficult to hold when filling or filled. It is rounded/curved with nothing to support it when it's upside-down being filled with water except the top rim of the tank. Because of the generous reservoir size, it is quite heavy when full and I struggled to comfortably transport it and place back on the base between uses. I felt like I was going to drop it or break it if I didn't support it properly. These two reasons are personal preferences so I am not deducting stars for them, the humidifier certainly excelled at doing what it's supposed to - humidifying a large room without the need to refill the reservoir several times a day. I'd also like to mention that customer support went above and beyond to assist me when I contacted them with an issue. I would recommend this humidifier if you aren't bothered by an LED light that stays on and if you don't have joint or strength issues with your hands.

I recently ordered the Pureenrichment Ultrasonic Cool Mist Humidifier XL. It replaces my old humidifier which was bulky and which had a noisy fan. I watched many positive reviews on Pureenrichment Ultrasonic Cool Mist Humidifier XL on YouTube and elsewhere before purchasing it. I am thoroughly happy with this humidifier!! It is whisper silent and humidifies my room quickly. I have a hygrometer to measure the humidity level and this humidifier works better than any others I have had in the past. I breath a lot easier with it, especially at night when I am sleeping. The night light is a great touch. Thank you for designing this great product!

1. The shape of this makes it very difficult to clean. 2. It does not come with a decalcification cartridge filer, BUT there was a note when I received the humidifier saying that they would provide one for free. I waited weeks, then emailed them. Replies I received, every time I sent an email was that "it was not in stock, we will advise you when it is". They never did ... 3. It does not cover 500 square feet of space as mentioned in their ad. So I don't recommend buying this one.

So I love this product, I bought it because i had a cold and desperately need humidity. Works fantastic and I find it really pretty and relaxing to look at as well. Very quiet. its nice to have the night light feature. I bought another one and one for my Mom I loved it so much. So What is great to know is that The company has great customer service. One of the products stopped working. I contacted the company and they were polite professional and efficient. Sending me a replacement via warranty. Great to know that they really value their customers.
