Worked great, it was so good being able to buy a Shure replacement for the original power supply that stopped working.

OEM Shure Power Supply - with locking ring for ULX Series mic receivers
This is the OEM Power Adapter for Shure ULX-D microphone receivers. Shure quality is top notch, if you install this in a rack, it will outlive most of us. For portable use (outside a rack mount where it's plugged in and unplugged at every event) - the thin cable usually fails at the point where it connects to the transformer. It's not very expensive, so I can't really complain about the build quality- but there's no strain relief connector in the world that will prevent that from happening - maybe we could have a (+) model that costs a little more and uses a better gauge wire, and better build quality (our audio guys are forced to keep a spare of these around at all times). There are aftermarket solutions available, all with the same frayed wire problem - and the aftermarket items don't have the locking ring. Thank you for your quality products Shure!

Here's a tip for anyone with a Shure GLX series wireless mic receiver that might seem to have an internal charging fault. It's not the receiver, it's just the AC power adapter. It's even harder to diagnose because putting a DMM on the power pack output SEEMS to indicate it's OK. In fact the seemingly good power pack can develop a subtle defect -- inability to deliver sufficient momentary surge current - and that tricks the lithium battery charge circuitry into thinking there is a fault in the rather expensive receiver. That outboard power pack is voltage regulated and electronically over-current protected. ie. it's not just some cheap little basic wall adapter. These sorts of switching supplies (all of them in any make and model of appliance, be it built in or outboard) are prone to capacity failures whereby they still seem OK when metered with a DMM (with or without load) but in fact can no longer deliver full load spec. In fairness to the manufacturer, they sit there powered up 24-7, often for years at a time, running a rather complex highly efficient "switching power supply" circuit, pushing good luck to the limit. Often it's just a small aluminum electrolytic cap inside the power pack that "dries out" internally, greatly reducing capacitance, which in turn affects the power pack's output ability. So no, don't toss the nice high tech Shure wireless mic receiver. A quick purchase of a replacement power pack -- a MUCH cheaper repair -- and your Shure GLX series wireless mic receiver is all back in action, charging the lithium mic batteries properly. And thanks for factory replacement power packs being available. Good thinking.
