Maintaining a pool can sometimes feel overwhelming, but this chlorine stabilizer from Clorox has made the job much easier for me. The product does exactly what it claims. It helps chlorine last longer which means I am not constantly adding tablets or shocking the water as often. Once mixed in, it keeps the water balanced for weeks and I have noticed a real difference in how steady my chlorine levels stay. One thing I appreciate is how straightforward it is to use. The instructions are clear and the granules dissolve well when added slowly to warm water before pouring into the skimmer. It does take a little patience because stabilizer is not instant, but once it is in the water and circulated properly, it delivers consistent results. Compared to other brands I have tried, this stabilizer seems more effective at maintaining chlorine levels even during hot summer weeks when the sun usually burns chlorine away quickly. I also feel like I am saving money on chlorine products because they are lasting much longer. Pros: reliable performance, clear directions, noticeable improvement in chlorine efficiency, and trusted Clorox quality. Cons: it can take a full day or two for the stabilizer to fully dissolve so you need to plan ahead but that is expected with any stabilizer. Overall this is a must have for pool owners who want less hassle and clearer water. It has become part of my regular pool maintenance routine and I highly recommend it.

I will have to update this on the efficacy, but I am giving it 5 stars on what I already know about this product. First of all, I always use CYA granules. I live in the south and have a small inground pool, so it goes from brrrr to bath water in a fairly short span of time. The cover comes of early April, so that you can swim by May. I’m paranoid about clogging the lines, so I always put my CYA in a sock, and when I bought the granules at the pool supply store it was at least twice the price, and the granules never seemed to dissolve unless I vigorously rubbed that sock between my gloved hands, leave it a while and repeat. With this product, I let it sit in the skimmer basket for a couple of hours, then just kind of moved the bag around, and it dissolved wonderfully. I’m impatient, so I want it done quickly, with the more expensive granules, if I left it alone it could take a week and a half (not what you want when opening your pool for the season). With these, it took 2 days if I didn’t mess with it. Today I put in the entire 5 lb. bag (3 sock fills) and it raised my CYA from very low (basically none) to low. I have a saltwater pool, so I keep my CYA a little higher. Tomorrow I will put in at least 2 more pounds if not more. Basically I feel like it you do it this way, you get more of a liquid CYA without paying the extra price. If it turns out that it doesn’t last as long as the more expensive granules, I will probably still buy this, but leave a sock full of the other granules in my skimmer basket. I still come out ahead.

Good price and does what I need it to do. Despite the instructions, DO NOT ADD THIS PRODUCT TO YOUR SKIMMER BASKET! And definitely do not pour it straight into the water. These are larger granules and take longer to dissolve than other pool chemicals. Put it in a sock, tie it with a string (make sure it is strong enough), tie it to something so it dangles right in front of the jet return where the water comes out and squeeze the sock occasionally. This took me about an hour but may take longer depending on the amount and frequency of squeezing, LOL. Yes, it sounds weird, but it works. Google “cya sock method” for more info. I needed to increase my CYA from 30 to 40 ONCE AGAIN due to all of the rain, splash out from swimming, and adding hose water every other day due to evaporation and some slow leaks. This stuff does exactly what I needed it to do, and that was raise my CYA level. Now my pool holds my liquid chlorine (which does not contain any stabilizer, unlike chlorine pucks) and makes it last much longer so I’m not going through 4 gallons of regular bleach every week! I recommend this product! Just make sure you have a reliable testing kit to check your CYA levels and I do not recommend using this product if you are using chlorine tablets (trichlor) or other forms of stabilized chlorine (dichlor aka “shock”) which already contain stabilizer in them and will cause your CYA to get too high, which causes BIG problems - but that is a discussion for another day! It definitely slowed down the process of my chlorine dissipations. Everytime I tested even after the two pucks and shock it always said zero or no chlorine or free chlorine the following day. My pool is in the direct sun all day long except a 30 minute window so was hard to keep it at an appropriate level. This did seem to help. Definitely has chlorine levels showing up during water testing now.
