Brew Rite Coffee Filter, 3" and 3 1/2" Disc, White

I have a small 5 cup coffee pot (Mr Coffee) and it has a filter basket in it but I was getting that oily substance that comes from coffee, so I've been using these. Perfect!

Update: I still use these and am on my second order. They are great for keeping the floating grounds out of my morning coffee. These really help with keeping grounds out of my coffee when I use my basket style coffee maker. No matter how carefully I put the grounds in the basket (with the correct filter) they would splash and float over the filter and right into my cup. I'm not a fan of crunchy coffee despite liking it strong. Placing one of these filters on top of the grounds has really helped reduce the crunch in my cup. Of course, they aren't designed for this use and are just a little small, so four stars rather than five. But I will continue to buy and use them. It would be wonderful if this company would make a slightly larger & non- perforated version.

It's a coffee filter... not much could go wrong!

After reading several one star reviews for the Melitta disc filters I decided to try these with my Presto 12 cup percolator. The filter covers all the holes in the 3 1/2” inch basket. There’s a circular perforation that allows the disc diameter to be reduced to 3” for smaller baskets (note: if you have a Presto percolator 3 1/2” fits). The filters come in a stack and some dexterity is required to separate the individual filters. The filter can be used with standard pre-ground coffee purchased from the grocery store. A more demanding test of the filter is to grind your beans with an inexpensive electric grinder (e.g Krups), which typically produces some very fine grounds under the blade. I’ve tried several different beans and have concluded that these filters are effective at retaining the small grounds produced by the electric grinder. Finally I added a tablespoon of espresso grind directly on top of the filter and then added coarse percolator ground beans. The coffee came through clear with no significant coffee residue. Overall, I’m happy with these Brew Rite filters and will be reordering. Updated 8/2/20: I’ve been using these filters for over a year now. If you are looking for a percolator filter that will retain all the grinds all the time, you’ll be disappointed. These filters do not work as well as the conical or basket filters used in drip coffee makers. It is not unusual to find some grinds or fine residue at the bottom of the cup. Finally, if your basket is 3 1/2” then you don’t need to tear the filter at the circular perforation (see above). It’s likely that the perforation decreases filter performance.

I needed a 3 inch filter. The perforation required a slow, careful hand to separate the outer ring but I did get my 3 inch filter.
