EV Rated for Multiple Insertion/Extraction Operations
These are designed for repetitive plug-unplug operations. The most popular brand out there is designed for plugging in your range or clothes dryer once, then unplugging it twenty years later and their receptacle is relatively small. The Hubbell/Raco 9450 is a large, ruggedly-built NEMA 14-50R and will last a long time if used to plug in your EV every day. Your electrician will want to make accommodations for the extra volume when doing fill calculations. Great parts!

Rock Solid
This 14-50R receptacle is as well built as all of the YouTubers who produce electrical and solar how-To videos say. I was able to mount the standard dual gang square box housing it between a dual stud post (see picture) I found in my garage wall, so there is no flex when plugging in a cable. I ran 3/4-inch metal flex conduit to my panel and used 6 AWG THHN for the three conductors and 10 AWG for the ground.Currently using a Tesla mobile connector with this receptacle for a Tesla model Y limited to 32 amp charging on a 40-amp breaker. As expected, no issues at this level. The conductors in the conduit and the receptacle only get slightly warm during a four-hour top-off charging session. The Tesla cable that is part of their mobile connector does get quite warm during charging at 32 amps. This receptacle feels very smooth and solid as I plug and unplug the 14-50 adapter that comes with the Tesla mobile connector.I HAVE NOT DONE THIS, BUT I would expect to have no issues going to 40 amp charging on a 50-amp breaker as long as the Tesla cable didn't get too warm. AGAIN, I HAVE NOT DONE THIS YET, SO THIS IS ONLY AN EDUCATED GUESS.

EV rated NEMA 14-50 must have
This is by far the best NEMA 14-50 outlet that I have tested that is EV rated. Extremely well built, backed by Hubble quality. I’ve purchased two, one for my new house and one for my office. If you plan to use a mobile charger or use a heavy duty appliance cord connected to a high power wall charger for an EV, this is the only NEMA 14-50 you should be buying. This handles 48 amps continuously like a champ. I’ve had several other brands of NEMA 14-50 plugs melt even only at 30 amps continuous current draw. Don’t risk your family or property with cheap 14-50 outlets, spend the extra money for that piece of mind, it’s so worth it.

Quality receptacle
Replaced a builder grade receptacle that I was using for EV charger. My Tesla alerted me that it was slowing charger. As I would find out, these typical 50R receptacles are not designed for sustained charging and started melting so I went with this product to remedy that. 1 year in and no issues so far.

Durable and Heavy Duty
This is certainly more suitable for charging cars than what you would find at the big box stores. You can feel the difference!

Installed to fix "wall plug overheat" warning for Tesla 3 charging
After 20 months I started receivng outlet high temperature warning when charging my Tesla Model 3 using the original Leviton outlet. Replaced with Hubbell outlet. The Hubbell is a better quality than the Leviton. The outlet is a bit deeper. NOTE - The face plate hole cutout diameter for the Leviton is too small for the Hubbell. If replacing a Leviton, you will need a face plate made for the Hubbell

The only proper EV outlet
The only proper choice if you're looking to charge an EV. Don't chance it with the cheaper sockets and no-names. You want super heavy duty and a proper UL listed part. This or the new HD Leviton, but that one has yet to be out long enough to prove itself, IMO. This, while pricey, is the correct choice.
