F9: The Fast Saga - Director's Cut [Blu-ray + DVD + Digital]

I have to admit when I first saw this in the theaters. It was my least favorite. I just thought the backstory stuff was silly and I didn’t love John Cena’s character. Not to mention a bit of a slow middle. But now seeing it a third time after purchasing the Blu-ray, I can say that it’s one of the best ones. It’s solidifies as Dom Toretto as one of the greatest and most complex action heroes to exist. Forget about the rock. The rock is one dimensional and all the characters he plays Have to be tough, sarcastic, and flawless. But Vin Diesel portrays Dom in fast, nine as a flooded character, who is clearly traumatized after the last film. He’s opened up his heart now and is allowing himself to realize that he may have been too harsh with his brother. And then realizing the truth that he abandoned him when family is super important to him, strikes him as a huge blow. He regrets turning his back on his brother and ostracizing him to the point where he leads a life of espionage in crime. Where perhaps if they had bonded together and stayed strong, they could’ve led better lives. Either way Dan realizes his errors and does something the rock would never do. Show humility. It’s this vulnerability that makes fast nine special and gives it the emotional impact that it has. I’m also a bigger fan of John Cena since I saw this years ago, and absolutely loved him in fast X knowing where his character arcs towards. When he comes back at the end of nine spoiler alert and helps them defeat the bad guys. It’s a decision of humility made by two tough guys. But it’s these tough guys who show a perfect example of what a masculine man can be. Strong and protective, and also caring and forgiving.

While this is the probably the wildest, craziest ride of the Fast Saga, with near unbelievable if not unrealistic moments, such as the launching of a car into space with rockets attached, it still has some relatively good wholesome parts that make the film worthwhile. For one thing, the return of Sung Kang as Han Lue, reuniting most of the family again. Another is the addition of Dominic's brother Jacob, played by John Cena, joins the cast as the primary antagonist of this 9th outing. His character arc development & flashback interactions with Dom throughout the film become important by the time you get to the final act. If you like surprises, a surprise cameo of another returning character even pops up in an end credits scene. I own all of the Fast and Furious films on DVD and/or Bluray, and the Han reunion is in my opinion worth owning this one in my collection too.

Grandson absolutely loves this series.

Fun!

I like the Fast and Furious franchise. They’ve always been over the top, but that was okay because the actors had chemistry and did their best to give sincere action star performances. This installment seemed to dump all the mishmash ingredients that made the other movies interesting, sometimes even touching, or ,at least different, and has blended them into one barely recognizable and nearly indigestible chunk of CG stunts and uninteresting acting. It was like watching every soap opera plot twist device ever,in what seemed an interminably long sequence of progressively improbable stunts. It started to feel very “super hero” after awhile, frankly. There were so many ridiculous character appearances that really made no sense and the one character whose absence should have been decently explained was yet another unlikely, very un- hero-like plot chasm. I love action movies. I love cool cars. I really liked most of the other movies from this franchise, but I’m afraid they’ve lost their way in this one at least. Try to watch it to keep your place in the next one, but try not to snooze through this current chapter.

It’s the last fast and furious. It’s better than you think it’s going to be and it’s better than a trip to the dentist. No it isn’t great it’s kind of stupid but you can feel every cars pain as each one is crashed and zoomed and treated like a 10 year old boys cars on a rally stage in his moms back yard.

I'VE SEEN THIS FILM ON TELE SO I KNOW IT'S A GOOD ONE JUST ANOTHER FAST AND FURIOUS TIME LIKE THE REST I'M NOT SURE IF THERE'S ANY ONE ELSE LIKE ME BUT I FIND THAT THE FILMS ARE ADDICTIVE WHEN YOU'VE SEEN ONE YOU HAVE TO SEE ALL THE REST A VERY GOOD FRANCHISE

Arrived on time and in good condition. Too bad the movie is so ridiculous.
