Is this thing strong enough to handle moving multiple large, like 100 lb boulders?

With the sides taken off (which are easy to do) yes it would handle a 100 lb boulder. It will carry up to 800 lbs.

Does this work well on the loose sand at the beach?

No, this will not work on the beach.

How much does it weigh?

I do not know...it should be in the description.

What tools are needed to assemble this cart?

I'm sorry, I do not know...this cart was purchased for the SWOSU Marching Band and I had no part in putting it together.
