I was expecting the item shown gathered and ready to go. Anybody else receive just a tangled mess.?

yes. all tangled mess in liquid! pics on website are very misleading. it is not pre-threaded or gathered in a flat plastic ready to be inserted to the stuffrung tube after soaking. it came in a tangled mess of casings in a liquid pack. too much work for $10. i can just buy this from a butcher as prethreaded and pay extra $4. what a waste and a mess.

Are these supposed to smell like disgusting raw sewage/feces when you open the package?

It varies, some time they do and so forth. I like to run cool water through them to remove any bile, and a good wash to remove salt. After that I soak them in lukewarm water with 1 or 2 tablespoon of vinegar for 45 min to an hour. Then giving them a good thorough rinsing and after all that you should be ready to start the stuffing process.

Does the 8 oz. Package come pretubed or just tied?
