Love these!
My parents would buy these exact nougat candies when I was a child, particularly for holidays. And when I was a child I was enamored by the little boxes they came in! That must be when my love of nougat started and I still love it to this day. These still taste just as good and are a step back to 50 years ago. They are fresh because they are each wrapped in a foil wrapper and in their own little box. Yes, they are pricey, but they are a real treat. You can set these out for guests and not worry that they will get stale because of their wrapping, and they make a great conversation piece for those who have never seen or eaten them before! I have no disappointment with them - vanilla is my favorite flavor.

Delicious, but Avoid seller Fine Products International
My family enjoys these traditional Italian candies as a special treat every Christmas. The flavor of the vanilla variety reminds me a little of the divinity candy my mom used to make, but with almonds instead of pecans. The texture is a bit more gooey, but oh so good. This brand is filled with nuts, and the fruit flavors are pleasing, not overly cloying. Each piece comes in its own little box (about 1”x2”). The package makes a lovely holiday gift.A word of caution about purchasing. Be sure to order early for the holiday season. They can sometimes be slow to ship or become backordered. Worse yet, this year our order of 4 boxes from seller Fine Products International was not even delivered; they would not refund or replace our order. Be cautious of who you choose to order from.

like the ones my Grandpa used to hand out
These are the closest I have found to the ones my Grandfather used to always have in his pockets to hand out to us kids. The ones from my childhood were in blue boxes with a lady in a long dress on it, funny the things you remember. They always tasted sooooo good.As to the La Florentine product: these are not hard but they are not super soft either, dare I say perfect in texture. A nice amount of whole almonds and best of all, they are not super sweet which many I have had lately are. This is an assorted pack with vanilla, lemon and orange flavors in each box and they are all delicious and distinctive in flavor.I purchased these as a gift for my Dad but I am thinking next year they will be my gift to most of my siblings they were so tasty and soooo much better than the ones we find at the specialty stores at Christmas.

You get what you pay for
I have been eating these candies since I was a small child when relatives in Italy would send them to us. In our dialect of Italian, they are called "Torru," but I have traveled through Italy, and the candy is much the same from the north to the south. Now I buy them every Christmas, and I am always transported back to my childhood they first time I bite into one. Yes, they are expensive. If you want cheap, buy a Snickers bar. My children and grandchildren love them as I do, so we will continue to buy them every holiday season.

Very tasty, nicely packed
I'm a huge fan of torrone - it just is not Christmas without it. This is the first time I tried this brand and found it to be quite tasty (especially the lemon version). Each one comes individually wrapped so it's easy to parcel them out as stocking stuffers. This is the white torrone that is semi-hard. There's also a version that is chocolate-based and very soft (basically, the white nougat is replaced with a dark chocolate nougat, with a lot of hazelnuts and wrapped in the edible paper). That is my all-time favorite, especially the one made in L'Aquila, Italy (sorry, can't remember the brand name) which is not sold in the US. If you're ever there, you have to try it.

Delicious & a great gift
Since I was a child, I have loved & eaten the LaFlorentine brand in the cute little packages with the 3 flavors. It also makes a great gift, because of the pretty, individually wrapped packages. It is a wonderful candy worth 5*, but I often wished they had the candy in a bar instead of the more expensive & wasteful packaging. I tried the LaFlorentine pistachio bar, it was good, but only had half the wafer as the Bellino bar. I would give it 4*. If you want more candy & less packaging, the Bellino Torrone soft nougat bar is soft, chewy, & melts in your mouth. WARNING: Don't get the hard nougat-ONLY the soft! Once you try these delightful nougat candies, you will be hooked!!!

Welcome Holiday Gifts
This past holiday season these unusual to many people candies made an original and unusual holiday or hostess/host gift. For those who knew Italy, they were like old friends. For those being introduced for the first time, they were welcome new friends. Each piece of chewy nougat with almonds was individually wrapped and sealed and placed inside it's own decorated box, similar to the main box decoration. On each was a portrait of a beloved historical character from about the 1800's, three different pictures, each one signifying a different flavor. Each piece of white nougat in addition has a very thin top and bottom of egg white. No, it is not additinal wrapping ( it could easily be mistaken as a thin layer of paper ) but is meant to be eaten and keep fingers from becoming sticky. Each of the three flavors are subtle and delicious. It was like being back in Italy as they brought on many good memories.

WonderfulItalianTreat
All I can say is that if the readers have never tried torrone candy, they don't know what they're missing. It is an almond nougat candy made in Italy and served for special occasions. It's low fat, low sodium and no cholesterol. It has special memories for me. When I was a child, I would sneek out the back door on Sunday mornings and go over to my Italian neighbor's house next door. She would serve me tea and toast while we visited, then she would aways send me home with 2 or 3 boxes of torrone. It is not available to buy where I live without traveling distance, so I am grateful to Amazon.com for the opportunity to relive those memories at holiday time!
