Which size is best for a betta in a 3 gallon?

I bought the large for my betta for a 2.5 gallon. I think the small would be to small for the betta. The large is just perfect size and I would consider it to be a small if you read the dimensions. Dimension: 5.3'' X 4.5'' X 3.3''(L*H*W). You can place it in different directions for a different look as well.
