Arcturus Military Wool Blanket - Warm, Thick, Washable

I bought the Arcturus Military Wool Blanket for camping and car emergency use, and it has quickly become one of my most-used pieces of gear. This thing is seriously impressive for the price. The blanket is thick, heavy (about 4.5 lbs), and feels very high quality. The 80% wool blend keeps you surprisingly warm even when it’s damp or cold outside — a huge advantage over synthetic blankets. I’ve used it on chilly nights while camping and as an extra layer in my sleeping bag, and it performed beautifully. At 64" x 88", it’s large enough to wrap up comfortably or use as a ground cloth. The weave is tight and durable, and it looks like it will hold up for years of outdoor abuse. I also love that it’s machine washable — a big plus compared to many pure wool blankets that require special care.I was worried it might be itchy, but after one wash it softened up nicely. It still has that classic wool feel, but it’s very tolerable now. Honestly, for the money, this blanket offers outstanding value. It feels and performs like blankets that cost twice as much. Whether you’re building a bushcraft kit, stocking your car for emergencies, going camping, or just want a warm stadium or picnic blanket, this one checks all the boxes. Highly recommend! I’ll probably end up buying a second one.

This Arcturus Military Wool Blanket is absolutely perfect for camping, outdoor adventures, and even just keeping cozy at home. I’ve been incredibly impressed with the quality, warmth, and durability of this blanket, so much so that I’ve purchased one for every member of my family. The 64" x 88" size is more than enough to keep you warm whether you're alone or sharing it with someone, and the 4.5 lb weight gives it a nice heft without feeling too bulky. One of the best things about this blanket is its ability to keep you warm even when it’s wet. Wool is a fantastic material for regulating body heat, and this blanket does exactly that. I’ve used it in a variety of outdoor conditions, and it has always kept me cozy. The 80% wool composition, along with 20% synthetic fibers, not only provides excellent warmth but also adds durability and makes it machine washable, which is a big plus. After a few washes, it gets even softer and more comfortable. I love that this blanket is loom-woven with hemmed edges and contrast stitching, giving it a rugged yet polished look that fits in whether you’re out in the wilderness or using it on the couch at home. The fact that it’s naturally fire-retardant without any added chemicals is another bonus, especially for those who want to avoid unnecessary treatments. Yes, there is a very light solvent smell when you first unpack it, but it’s honestly to be expected with wool blankets of this type. After a wash or two, the smell completely fades, and it doesn’t detract from the overall experience. In terms of value for money, this blanket is top-notch. It’s durable, washable, and designed to last for years. Whether you’re using it for camping, emergencies, or just keeping warm during winter, it’s a great investment. Highly recommend for anyone looking for a reliable, long-lasting, and incredibly warm blanket!

This blanket is very warm. It has a medium to heavy weight feel. It's great for layering, packing in the car, or even for sitting on for picnics. The fabric feels soft and also durable. It doesn't seem to snag or pill. I am very happy with this purchase and plan to keep this blanket around for a long time.

Love this blanket! Wash it first and if you use a dryer set to the lowest setting it will be fine. But be prepared yo stop midway to clear the lint trap! There was a lot of lint!!! Used a wool wash, and scent beads knocked the ‘smell’ right out. Let it aire out before folding and putting away or on your bed. As it’s a twin it’s good for a single person so get 2 if you’re a couple you’ll want to burrito yourself solo in this blanket. Colors are great and exactly as expected. Good size and fit and I didn’t feel suffocated so good breathability!

This is clearly a well-made product. And I was impressed with the weight of it. Definitely a substantial blanket. The only negatives that I can see are there is a bit of a bad scent to it when I first got it, but it seems to have dissipated now. And it’s a little bit itchy, but I suspect that that would be improved if I washed it. Unfortunately, it says that it should not be put in a washing machine, especially not one with an agitator. But it’s too big for me to try to wash it and dry it in my shower. So I’m not really sure how I’m going to clean it. But it’s made in America and if you need something warm, I would recommend it.

In our emergency supply kit I purchased these blankets in many colors for all family members. The colors are good and very thick and soft and pleased these wool blankets are washable. It is reassuring knowing my family has these very high quality blankets now if ever the need should occur. Good investment and AMAZON carries these with good pricing and ships immediately. Recommend and not hesitate buying more in the future.

I have been searching for a good, sturdy dense blanket for 3 years-FINALLY I found one! Due to a…”medical miscalculation” I’m having an issue where my femurs are “displaced”, causing my hip joints to not function. As a result, I’m having to sleep in a recliner. But, I’ve always had a thing about being “secure” w/ substantial covers-year round-a thin blanket won’t do, even in summer. As a result, I’ve been sleeping w/ 3, yes THREE, throws, because I can’t find 1 single blanket that has been dense enough, yet manageable in the chair —I even tried a children’s weighted blanket. But even a 5-7lb weighted toddler blanket is too hard to wrangle out of for a late night “pilgrimage”. The 3 throws work, weight/thickness wise, but to get up (remember, my hip joints don’t function-I can’t squirm or wiggle), I have to roll the 3 throws together, so that when I get back in my chair, all I have to do is unroll them. This is a huge issue when I’m in a rush to get started on my late night “pilgrimages”. Anyway, after years of searching, I saw this blanket-it’s described as “think & heavy”-I’ve been duped by those very words many times, but I decided to try it, based on reviews…I LOVE THIS BLANKET!!! For the first time in YEARS, I’ve been able to sleep w/ just 1 blanket! While not too heavy to get out from under, it is a very dense weave-it’s thick enough to squash the vulnerable feeling I’ve had since I was a baby, I need, pretty much, a “security blanket”. We live in the humid south-our AC runs nonstop-this is perfect for sleeping in a cool room, but still being cozy. Perfect weight & density, but a good size/weight for managing in a recliner. I bought 2 & plan on buying 2 more for family members-not scratchy, great texture. Buy one-you will LOVE it!!

This wool blanket is dense, warm, and holds up well to outdoor elements- so it's a great choice for camping, keeping as a just-in-case blanket for the car, or even in place of a duvet. I've used it both outside and inside, and it really holds up well against the sun, water (when I forget it outside during a storm), and cold/windy days. It doesn't hold smells long, at least as far as I've seen, but I do air it outside a lot. Not the softest wool blanket, but it has softened more after several months of use, and it's a great quality for the price. While I've used it myself in order to fully review it, I actually purchased this for my cats. They absolutely LOVE this wool blanket. As soon as I put it down they're all over it. They use it as a bed, play with it like a toy, and climb across like spider monkeys or do zoomies through it when it's draped over something. I also used it as a crate cover and it works great since it big and heavier than a typical blanket, making it easy to place over the crate without too much sliding. As a crate cover it blocked out pretty much all light (I bought a darker color), so the cats can have a nice dark area for sleeping/hiding. One downside it that is does shed like crazy while being washed (but that's pretty typical of the wool products I've gotten). I first handwashed it with Woolite, and it shed a ton. Then washing machine, and it shed all over the washer (though not as much as the first wash). Shedding isn't nearly as bad after the first few washings. As a warning, it's super heavy when soaking wet. Overall I'm very happy with this product and plan on purchasing another soon! Edit: Still a great product after 1 year of use, no issues with fabric or stitching even with cats clawing all over it. The charcoal black color has only faded a little while being in the sun and outdoor elements pretty much 24/7. The 2nd blanket I got in green shed A LOT less compared to the previous one I bought. I'm thinking the new blanket design sheds less than before, which is great. I also used 2 blankets to help keep a feral cat I trapped and spayed warm during the nights until I released it, to cover both the trap and crate and keep the heat in. Worked fantastic! Going to buy another before the winter cold sets in this year.

This is a top tier wool blanket at a bottom tier price. The weight of it is fantastic and that's wonderfully complimented by its surprisingly large size (not too big though). Between the great colour options and the detailed stitching, this blanket unlocks a level of coziness that you've yet to experience. Complete the experience by adding a chilly morning at a campground, a cup of coffee, and pjs.
