Works great. I almost tossed my hard drive away!
My huge Western Digital external hard drive died on me a few weeks ago and I thought I lost everything. After careful inspection, I saw that there was a tiny slit in the cord exposing wires. No idea how that happened. My son told me to get this replacement power supply and I did. although I didn't really think that tiny cut in the cord was the reason the drive died. To my surprise, it fired right up and has been working great ever since. The block plug is cumbersome but I am very relieved that this can power my drive. I have been using it for a few weeks so I can't yet speak to its longevity but, so far, so good. Great price for something so important to me.

Does the job, with one minor note that won't affect many.
Nothing special here, but I came across a WD My Book drive that didn't work because someone used the wrong adapter. This worked flawlessly but a note to those who just happen to be shortwave radio listeners or ham radio operators...this adapter puts out some serious RFI. Maybe I just got a quirky one. 99% of users wouldn't even notice.

Turned on my old hard drives
This power supply was perfect for my 15 year old hard drives. I found my family's old hard drives and could not find a power supply to boot them back up. I found this one for fairly cheap and it turned them on with no problem. The cable was long enough and could be used to take with you on the go. I recommend that you buy this power supply if you need to turn on your old hard drives.

I have a backup hard drive. One day I noticed I did't have access to it anymore. I tried rebooting it and plugging it in different spot for power, but had no success. I fount this power charger and it fit perfectly, and now I have my backup hard drive back! I was glad it was the cord and I still have all the data.
