Japanese Syllabary - Katakana

Very nice flashcards to learn a Japanese syllabary. The only minor criticism is that a couple of Japanese characters have variants (e.g. ki, sa, ri). The flashcards only show one version. Since the cards are packed with information there is very little extra space for them.

These have been very helpful with learning the basic japanese characters. Good build quality, similar to a standard deck of playing cards. Should last a long time if not abused.

I bought the bundle and I don't regret it. Regardless of if I stick with learning Japanese long term, these were immeasurably useful in learning Hiragana and Katakana. They're sorted in an easy to grasp way, with useful information and clear text. 10/10

Exactly as advertised. I have both sets (for hiragana and katakana) and both are great. The finish is glossy (as opposed to matte or textured). They are slightly smaller than I expected (about the size of traditional playing cards) but they are easy to handle. The only downside is the lack of a binder ring or similar device to keep them together (they were VERY well packed and I tore the box opening them) and there doesn't appear to be a great place to make a hold for installing your own.

1 star off for the box... I really REALLY wish it was in the same style of box that the Hiragana set came in. Of the 3 Japanese flash card sets... this is probably the least-needed and least useful of them, but still helpful... just kind of an odd duck compared to the other 2. Just like the Hiragana set, one side has the Katakana letter... and the other side is full of other info. On the back, you have the symbol again, plus romanji pronunciation, and written stroke order (though not for all of them). The bit I don't like as much is that the next section is written in English, and has the katakana symbol again, romanji again, then the hiragana equivalent, and romanji for a 3rd time, and finally the original kanji the character is based on for those who have one (but no translation for the kanji example to learn the meaning). This is wordy, repetitive, and I kinda wish they would simplify it to have things a little larger on the card instead of filling space with English on a Japanese learning card. Finally, 2-3 examples of the Katakana used at the start of a word with the standard pronunciation (not romanji this time, which is different from the other 2 sets), and English translation (very helpful for the few loan-words that aren't English) Card quality is excellent, and very easy to clean if you get water/food/dirt on them. Just like the Hiragana cards, they are color coded for their row/column group of the alphabet, and numbered so you can easily pull a bunch of similar letters for review and practice, and can easily get them back in order if you want to review a specific group later. And because they are the same size cards as the hiragana and vocab sets, you can mix-and-match cards from different sets, but pretty easily get them back in their appropriate sets without issue.
