La Crosse TX7U Sensor
I purchased this TX7U sensor as an added measurement zone for a La Crosse/The Weather Channel Weather display that I bought over a year ago to monitor my front and back yards - the system originally used TX4U sensors that read temperature and humidity and relayed the data by UHF telemetry to the base display. Since the TX4U is no longer available, I purchased the TX7U, which is fully compatible. The nice thing about the TX7U is that in addition to sending live data to a base display up to 300 feet away, that it also has a built-in LCD display that shows the actual temperature and relative humidity (no need to go back to the base display to see what is being sent). I use this sensor as my third zone (my base unit displays up to 3 zones) inside my greenhouse, where I overwinter tropical palm specimens that wouldn't survive the rare freezes we see in So. Cal. every 15 to 17 years. Now I can wake up in the middle of a cold night and glance over at the base display and see what the conditions in my greenhouse actually are. I highly recommend this sensor and the LaCrosse product line.

So far so good.
Works okay on my Lacrosse WS-9031 TWC weather station... also working on my Skyscan 86722 ALU Atomic Clock at the same time. Both devices picked up the TX7U immediately. You must turn on the TX7U transmitter for about 30 seconds before you put batteries in the receiver (e.g. clock or weather station).I've only had it for a few days, so can't say anything about the reliability. I've had several TX6U transmitters and they became non-operational after about 1 to 2 years. Out in the cold weather, snow, rain and the hot sun, you can't expect anything to last forever, so I'm glad these sensors are available separately. At least the TX7U has a gasket around the battery compartment to keep water out - unlike the TX6U, and the TX7U seems better built than the TX6U also. One pretty useless feature of the TX7U (in my opinion) is the LCD display, since it only drains life from the battery and it is a remote sensor which should be outside far away where it can't be warmed by the house. I've opted to put lithium batteries in it to compensate for the LCD display.Anyhow, no complaints yet, just opinions...

Just What I Needed
I've had my weather station for years and really like it. It has everything I want on it and I can't really replace it for one that's as good or better because the majority are color now, which means they have to plug them in. One thing I do not need is one more thing with a cord. So when the outdoor transmitter decided not to work I figured I'd try these to see if I could get more life out of the station. They work great. They don't last as long as the original, I got about two years out of the last replacement I used, but I'll take it if it means I can still use my station.

Works just fine
The sensor works great ... just like the last one until it died. It lasted I don't know what, maybe 10 years, so if this one gives me another 10 years I'm not complaining. The way they have the mothership set up is pretty annoying, though. When you want to add a device, or even change the batteries, you have to completely shut down the clock and everything, bringing it and the remote up together according to a definite sequence so exacting it feels like you need to get a college degree to master it. Supposedly, the mothership will reset its clock automatically from WWV when you boot it up, but that has never happened for me. I've always had to manually go through the whole thing with date and time, and then the clock will pick up the signal late the next night. Makes you really, really hate it when you have to change the batteries in the remote!

Shocked it worked with my old weather station
I bought this as a replacement for a sensor that stopped working. I can't find a weather station that has ALL the info I want ( eg. sunrise & set, moonrise & set) so to have to dispose of this one was a heart breaker. So I set out to find a replacement. I didn't really think I would be able to find one that worked with my 8 - 10 year old station. Works great! I did not notice at purchase but now I have the added benefit that if I'm outside I can look at the sensor and get a reading too. My old sensor was just a sensor and had no display. I can't find anything to complain about. Of course batteries were not included. Complete hardware for installing outside is included.
