How big are the actual letters in inches on a 55 inch sign?

I don't have it with me to give an accurate measurement however I would say the upper case letters are at least 6-7 inches tall and lower case 4-5 inches tall.

Our sign turns on and when I touch the on button again it dims. But we cannot figure out how to turn it off or make it bright again w/o unplugging
