Q: Can this be taken apart and assembled again like a jigsaw puzzle?

Not easily. The pieces are sturdy enough to go together once and work for months, but because they go together well, they are pretty difficult to get apart.

Q: Could this be assembled by 4 people? I'm looking for an activity to do with my husband and our kids (9 and 12)

I would say it works best with one-two people. It would be fun to have two different puzzles and have each parent work with a child. That way, all four of you are working at the same time, and you have two different puzzles to play with when you’re finished.

Q: How many pieces are there?

The kit has about 260-275 pieces. This includes about 150 major wood parts, 50 very small wood parts (like connector pins), and about 75 hardware parts (steel shafts, plastic shaft sleeves, 10 steel balls, etc.). About 15 or 20 of the parts are spares. Nimble hands and fingers are needed to assemble in tight places.
