The difference in poundage is because of the limbs or the length of string?

Poundage is dictated by the LIMBS. The string can be twisted up or down to change the brace height of the bow (the measurement between the string and the throat of the grip) which will only decrease or increase VERY MINOR amounts of poundage allowing for TUNING of the bow to find the brace height where the bow will shoot the quietest and most efficiently for the shooter and arrow. The length of the string will be decided by the overall length of the bow. Having the right string length will allow you to get the proper brace height and the correct preloaded stress on the limbs. It will allow the bow to shoot quiet, smoothly and tune well with the arrows selected. Length of string will not alter the weight of the bow in the way you might think. If you want to change the actual poundage like go from a 30lbs pound bow to a 35lbs bow, you will need to get a 35lb limb. This bow allows you to change the poundage based on which limb weight you choose. So you can buy multiple weighted limbs in 5lbs increments.

My bow is 58” amo. The string that comes w/ it is 55” long.
