Mrs. Al here. I'd been eyeing the various "shroom" products across the vast array of online retailers and some in-person ones that carry them. Recently, we'd been at a local hardware store when I finally said, "we need to get this!" The price was decent - the same that was coming up here on Amazon - so we snagged it for the drain on the side of the kitchen sink that only had a little old mesh strainer (something there since before we bought the house last year). That thing was gnarly no matter how many times we cleaned it and it desperately needed replacing. I was especially sold on the ability to drain even when pots may otherwise block the covering. Loved it so much and how it worked. So easy to clean. Looks much nicer than we thought, too. Just had to get another for the other side. That one had a 2-and-1 strainer/plug that worked alright but was a pain to clean. Plus, now it looked terrible next to how nice the Kitchen SinkShroom looked on the smaller side of the sink. Said I'd buy another the next time we were in the store, but decided to check Amazon again. This time there was a coupon which made it much cheaper than anywhere else! Sweet! Felt even better about buying two new drain strainer thingies in a row when they are good deals for decent products. We switched the one from the smaller side to better utilize its features as we awaited the arrival of the second (the pots would only fit in the big side, afterall), but that was when we discovered the one flaw which makes me give this a four out of five star rating... See, this is really on us because neither of us noticed this on the packaging or the device itself let alone write-ups, but there is no way to plug the drain given its design to keep the sink from getting clogged no matter what. Okay, so fine when you are in the middle of washing but not so much fine for soaking. We got rid of our sink bins when we moved so do we want to get more? Do we want to keep another stopper around? We checked a product list for the brand that makes this and thought we found a compatible stopper to use with the Kitchen SinkShroom, but apparently it only works if you switch it out. (It supposedly fits over the other "shroom" products, but the customer reviews on those seemed evenly mixed on whether that really worked or not.) So maybe it isn't fair that we're rating this a four out of five stars when it already performed and looked better than anticipated, and we were the ones that didn't notice this, but... Ah, it would be truly the perfect item if there was someway to close the drain, too. (Again, this is on me, but looking at it, I always thought the inner part twisted or something to close it... wrong!) Would still recommend this, though. It really easy super easy to clean. I hate, hate, hate cleaning out the drains, but I do it because you have to if you don't want a putrid mess... But this thing really makes it easy, and not much escapes through so you don't have crud building up and getting stuck inside. (Thinking of even giving this out as gifts - add-ons at least - for birthdays and holidays, but that might be a little weird... Though who wouldn't love the gift of a cleaner, easier-to-maintain sink strainer/drain thingie!?)

Best thing ever! Moved into an older condo with NI GARBAGE DISPOSAL and this works PERFECT! Grapes it all. Love when a product performs the way it says it will! Nice work.

This is an excellent, well made, sturdy stainless steel sink strainer! It fits perfectly in the kitchen sink and it is very stable. The plastic central part is higher than the level of the strainer itself. In such a way, that if you place pots, skillets, pans, or plates above it, there will be a slight gap to allow the water escape through it and preventing clogging the sink (and potential flooding). Because it is sturdy there is enough material to hit this in the wall of the garbage bin to get rid of any food debris accumulation. It feels thick and has a nice feel to the touch (weight feels just right). It is good catching food debris and I am guessing will be very durable. I hope the manufacturer does not lower its quality over time. In this age, we are certainly lacking things well made of good quality. It is made in Vietnam and has been awarded several design prizes. I bought my first one in a brick-and-mortar store and liked it so much that immediately ordered another one in Amazon. Good stuff.

I like the strainer, but the black plastic part that is the handle sticks out really high from the strainer itself. I have left of pot full of water to soak in the sink, and it bends the handle part. I don't know how long it's going to last, but it works pretty good except for that one issue.

It’s not exactly cheap but i fits perfectly on my old HDB kitchen sink. I have tried the China no brands ones which look nice but are usually too tall for the sink. This one works fine catching all the rubbish and does not flood the sink. I only wish that the design allows for the water to be stopped by pushing a piston down. Don’t mind paying a bit more for an enhanced version.

Product is good. Stainless steel. Unfortunately, size was bigger than my shrink. So, I had already returned.

Passt perfekt für meine Spüle in der Küche. Die breite Auflage hat mich verwundert, aber sie deckt den Bereich rund um den Abfluss selbst angenehmst ab. Das Sieb ist so konstruiert, dass Wasser auch noch abfließen kann, wenn das Sieb selbst etwa von Speise- oder Gemüseresten voll ist: das zylindrische Teil in der Mitte ist hohl und weist Löcher auf. Diese Teil ist auch als Griff gedacht, das Sieb herauszunehmen und zu leeren. Um den Preis allerdings, dass es keine Vorrichtung gibt, den Abfluss von Wasser gezielt zu stoppen. Zudem ragt das Mittelteil über die Ebene, so dass kein Topf den Abfluss sperren kann - es bleibt immer ein Spalt. Hier hält sich der Frust mit der Blisterpackung in Grenzen, das Sieb ist gut zu entnehmen.
