This is probably a 3.5-star item. I'm giving it four for the fast delivery and the completely easy setup. I have a hand-me-down Visio flat-screen TV with all kinds of component capabilities, so I got this little unit to watch DVDs (yeah, I still have some). You don't have to read any instructions. It's basically connect the colored wires to the colored ports, plug it in, put batteries in the remote, open the tray, stick the DVD in, and set your TV to the right component. You can then use the remote to play the disc.Simple. So why don't I love it? The remote needs to be pressed a dozen times to work. There's just not a crisp connection between it and the unit.

***UPDATE***DVD player stopped working not even a year after it was purchased.I got this for my boys (ages 4 & 6) when their other dvd player was broken. (A broken/cracked dvd was placed into it and it shorted). I was up in the air about getting this because of some of the negative reviews. It's been a month since they've had this dvd player in their room. Everything worked out of the box (to include the remote). The only issue that my kids keep complaining about is that they will put a dvd in and it won't play right away. I'm not sure if this is bc of the player itself or bc all of their dvds are scratched due to their negligence. Due to this, I gave 4 stars instead of 5. I have not tested it out on any of my non kid dvds that aren't scratched. The player also has a usb port that my 6 yr old uses to charge his Leappad. The player & remote are both easy to use for both the 6 & 4 year old. I do NOT recommend this dvd player.*I was not payed or solicited to make this review*

I received my order very quickly and am happy with my purchase. The DVD player is very easy to set up as it comes with the cables which are color coded for an easy plug in to the TV. It also comes with an instruction booklet and a remote with a pack of two batteries. I set it up and it came on when turned on and I watched a movie. I did have a bit of trouble with the sound quality as the sound was loud and then seemed to drift off and I had to keep turning the TV sound louder to hear the movie. I noticed in the instructions that you can change the speed of how fast the movie plays and thought maybe the settings for the DVD, did not match my TV. I have not had time to do the remote setup, as to speeds or menu on with the remote, so I am hoping that is the source of the sound problem. Otherwise I am very pleased with the DVD, and feel I paid a fair price for it.Wanted to add that on back of DVD unit their are several cable plugs that are color coded. Depending on your TV, and unit be sure to watch which ones you use. The cable included with the unit is color coded to match the red, white, and yellow. For my older TV it was necessary to use the lower set of plug-ins. I had mistakenly plugged into the top red plug-in instead of using the lower one. Once I changed this to using only the lower row of plug-in holes, my volume was perfect. So in review I am very much pleased with this DVD unit.

I thought it'd be worth a try for the money, I was VERY wrong.The picture quality is okay, but if you have a problem with it, might as well throw it out..This DVD player was stuck with the closed captions on, and wouldn't turn off, so I tried over and over to contact the company through their website, with no response..I called the number in the owners manual, with no answer..When I FINALLY got someone to pick up the phone, they were nasty and rude. Said the email address was wrong in the manual(????).. But they told me it was an internal problem with the player, and it'd cost me $12 to ship it to them to fix it, and $12 to ship it back to me(???) Even though it has a "1 year warranty"..When he gave me some ideas to try and fix it, he kept trying to hang up on me, told me to try things out and call back tomorrow and hung up..I called right back and got no answer..Absolutely useless..Now I'm past the Amazon return time and I'm stuck with a POS DVD player.. Tried to go through the right channels and go to the manufacturer instead of Amazon, that was a poor decision on my behalf..All in all, poor product, absolutely disgusting customer service..AVOID THIS PRODUCT AT ALL COSTS!!

I needed a multi-region dvd player to play my UK dvds. When I found this dvd player on Amazon, I was a little worried that this dvd player was just a bad cheapo, since it was so cheap. Some of the reviews were not good either, which also worried me. The dvd player was delivered and my husband tossed the box on the ground. I thought that, if the dvd player was not so bad, that must have done it. I opened the box and I can now see with my own eyes that the dvd player is small and very light, which usually indicates cheap. I hook it up with ease, and the dvd player turns on, which was a relief, and plays my UK dvds with no problems. Image is crystal clear, better than my expensive dvd player, if I might say. Works absolutely great, has all kinds of features. I love love love it and would buy it again. Only down is that the imprint on the buttons of the remote is very faint, you can hardly read it.
