Great Flash unit for a low price!
Love these flashes! They are cheap and with these YN660 matching the power of high end Nikon and Canon flashes with a GN66 guide Number these are definitely worth trying out. They work great with the YN560-TX Flash Trigger. These are manual flashes only, n TTL but that's the best way to shoot a flash when doing studio lighting and it forces you to learn how to properly use a flash. They do warn you in the manual not to shoot continuously on full power or you can burn out the flash but these put out more than enough power at the lower power setting so you can fire away pretty rapidly and still have plenty of light power if you need it.

Excellent value
Love it! This is my first flash I bought, so wanted to go with this instead of one of the $500 Canon ones. It's very easy to use and understand, and so far is doing great! Cheap price with excellent features and build. I'm definitely buying another one soo to add to my gear. Only issue for me is that it doesnt lock down super tight on one of my wireless receivers, but other than that its great!

It seemed to work great for about a week
It seemed to work great for about a week, then quit. In all fairness, the unit worked perfectly in all modes when I removed it from the camera hot shoe. Dazed and frustrated I sent the unit back, but have since determined that the camera hot shoe connection is the culprit, NOT the flash. I shoot almost entirely in manual mode, so this was the perfect flash for me. Once I get the hot shoe dilemma resolved, I will likely re-purchase this flash. It's a big flash with a ton of power, and would suit my needs to a T. Great value for the money too!

Tried two different YN660's, both stopped working almost immediately
I bought one of these. I used it for a few shoots, and on the 3rd day noticed a burning smell. Sure enough, it was burning my gel, and melting the plastic that covers the light. It also make a much louder popping sound than normal. The smell of burning every time you use a flash isn't good, so I returned it and purchased another (same model). The new one came. I brought it to my shoot. After 20 flashes or so, it started misfiring... only firing about 1/5 times. After 3 (eventually) successful images like that, it just stopped working. Period. It won't even flash when I press the test button.I have a colleague who bought THREE of this same model, and had to return them all because they stopped working. Between the two of us, we are 0 for 5. We are switching to another brand now. I've used other Yongnuos with some success, but I highly recommend avoiding this model.

A bright light in so many ways
The YN660 is an incredible item with an incredible price tag. It is a significant step up from the 560, which is still a great speedlight, but the 660 starts and responds more quickly and can control other flash groups. Yes, GROUPS.I have a lot of research to do on lights, but I am happy enough with the way the 660’s zoom works with my D7200, and as I read about the features of known speedlights, I find them included on the 660, which just keeps adding to its value. I’m torn whether to buy another 560 or another one of these for my projects.

Recommended but test for flakiness!
Works pretty well with the limitations that non-Canon flashes/triggers have anyway and you can't beat the price for the functionality. I have Canon speedlites and pocket wizards but they are expensive and a hassel to setup while these have built-in radios and you can get cheap and simple triggers as well.I bought a pair mostly for shooting real estate and I have shot one house with them. I would give 4 starts but I already have one defective unit out of the box. One worked fine and the other frequently would not fire. It powered on, showed charged and ready but often would only fire after 2-3 presses of the test button. Then it would work correctly until a setting was changed or it sat for a few minutes. I could also see that it was receiving the radio trigger from the indicator light but still not flashing until I had a successful test fire first. This was very frustrating. But, using the other flash, it fired every time without fail. The flaky one is on it's way back to Amazon now and I kept the one that's working. I will probably re-order a second when the refund processes.I still recommend these flashes for the price but make sure you really test them out within the return period. If you have to exchange, no big deal. If one breaks in the future, buying a second or 3rd will still cost less than the name-brand...

Great speed light for the price
Great speed light for the price. Compared to the Youngnuo mark iiii these things are a lot bigger. which is not bad but with a battery grip on camera and this flash it does add weight to the camera. Also most precut gels won't work. I control my 660s with the YN560tx and they work great but they will not zoom pass 105mm when controlled by the 560 tx, not a big deal to me at all but when they come out with a 660tx I will upgrade from the 560tx. Last thing. A Nikon or cannon top of the line speed light cost over $600 - $700 I can buy 4 YN660s, 4 battery packs, 4 light stands and 4 NEEWER 32x32 softboxes with removable grids for the price of one Nikon or Cannon speed light. This is a no brainier. These things are built solid, and does not feel cheap. But lets just say within a year they do clunk out. its only $75 I can replace this with out breaking the bank.

Awesome flashes. I have 3 that I use for weddings all the time. Takes a little time to figure it out, but I love how well they talk to each other. Buying one more just incase it craps out, but its been over a year now and they are still working great.

cheap power.
I already owned a YN660 but having stepped up my game with portraiture photography, i needed another flash, and as its output has a guide No.66 it is very powerful, and I knew it had a quick recycle time and wasnt heavy on battery life , so i got another one of the same type. I control them both via an on camera radio remote, with no need for external receivers as the YN660s have that built in. Ive got no complaints at all and very pleased with the purchase.
