Smart 1500 Electric Power Rechargeable Battery Toothbrush, Black

I have been a happy owner of an Oral-B Triumph Professional Care 9000 electronic toothbrush for 16 years. Using a YouTube-video I disassembled it once, with great difficulty, and replaced the battery. However, once again after many more years the battery is on the fade and I decided it was unwise to take it apart a second time and hope for it to still be water tight, so I purchased a new Oral-B, this time the Oral B Smart 1500. I selected it from the numerous confusingly similar models Braun offers as the one that had among the least features. I don’t need a blue-toothed toothbrush or the many other bells and whistles they promote; brushing my teeth shouldn’t be that complicated. I was curious to get my new toothbrush and see what had changed in 16 years. The news is generally good. See the photo for a comparison of the new version (left) and old version (right). The 1500 is smaller and lighter (4.5 oz vs. 6.5 oz) but it is buzzier and noisier, however not excessively so. The sound level of the 1500 is about 70 dBA in high speed mode when measured at 3”, and about 2 dB quieter in the lower speed mode. My older 9000 is about 2 dB quieter than the 1500’s lower-speed values. The older one had a nice soft over-molding on the front and back, that can be seen in the photos. The newer has only a small area of over molding on the front around the control button but the 1500’s back is dimpled. All in all, the 1500 is easy to hold and in fact feels better in my hand than the older model. Pleasantly the same brush heads fit both models. On a balance, I prefer the new toothbrush and enjoy using it. It has three brush modes, described in the manual as daily clean, sensitive, and whitening, that seem to essentially be high speed, low speed, and pulsed. I find the low speed most similar to what I was used to with the older model. Also, at age 71, I am aware of possible gum recession so I think I will stick with the slower mode. Of course the new 1500 has lithium batteries which the older model did not. I have tested the battery in the 1500 one time by using the brush until the low-charge indicator light came on. I could have probably brushed even longer but it isn’t good to totally discharge lithium batteries. I brush the full 2 minutes and an extra minute or so for my gums, roof of my mouth and tongue, or about 3 minutes, but only 1x/day. The other times I use a manual brush. Oral B says the battery should last about a week, which at their recommended 2x/day, 2 minutes each, would come to 28 minutes of use. I found that I got 20 days on my program or about 60 minutes of use. That comfortably exceeds their claim, but I was using slow speed and perhaps on high-speed the run time is reduced. I am careful with the pressure I bring to bear on my gums so I brush lightly. But I wanted to see how well the red warning light, indicating too much brush pressure, worked so I purposely forcefully pressed the brush head against the tops of my molars. The light does indeed come on, but the pressure I had to use was way above anything I would normally use while brushing. Finally, I want to share a tip for those of you who might not read the owner’s manual. To turn off the brush without having to cycle through all three modes, you can just press and hold the button until it shuts off. Bottom line – I like the 1500 and am happy with my purchase.

wow im pleasantly surprised. a couple disclaimers: i just got this so it doesn't account longevity or longterm performance overall. Also im coming from the sonicare diamond clean bought in 2018. So Unfortunately my sonicare purple diamond care toothbrush was dying where the vibrations were slowing down when toothbrush got near my teeth. It would turn on out of nowhere until i tried fixing it and found out that water had gotten past the seal and killed it. I wont lie it lasted me about 4-5 years although it costing around $200-250 i would definitely expect that as a minimum. i did do minimum research and wanted to try oral b due to the different technology in brushing. i discovered the oral b pro 1000 was a fan favorite but looking at reviews and further investigation the oral b smart 1500 was the better option with improvements but double the price. the toothbrush left my mouth clean and that feeling of smooth and clean teeth that the sonicare couldn't do. i can see how better the rotating head would outperform a sonic vibration brush and im happy i switched hands down. however of course its not perfect and ill compare and contrast with the sonicare. pros: - cleans way better than the sonicare hands down. - ergonomic: so i have seen the new sonicare has rubber added to the handle but my sonicare was just sleek with no rubber or grip and it has at certain times slipped out of my hands while brushing. however the oral b does has rubber and has on the back small grip indentations like a golf ball and its pretty great. it also is slightly lighter which helps alot. - the 3 different modes actually work. so the diamond clean had like 4 or 5 different modes and i honestly never used them because i never saw or felt any real difference however the 3 on the oral b i can definitely feel the difference and will use them. -visual pressure sensor as a precaution -no bluetooth gimicks - less use of pressure is nice. coming from the sonicare where you learn not to use any pressure when brushing so this brush makes you actually feel doing a better cleaning job the less pressure you use the better cleaning the bristles do. it may have to do with angle of the brush but u can feel it cleaning deeper and better with less pressure. -no rusting: my sonicare had a aluminum bottom cover with the model and brand name etc and over time it had rusted but was able to be cleaned using alcohol prep pads. the oral b has a rubber base so no need to worry about that. - no cup cleaning and no charging fidgeting.: the sonicare used an induction base that had a thick glass cup that you would use to place the brush to charge. although it was cool and the glass cup was thick and good quality. 2 problems happened . 1 was you would occasionally need to clean and wipe the glass cup. 2 sometimes you had to adjust the brush in the cup for it to start charging. with the oral b no issues . you put the handle on the little protruding nub where it goes into the handles insert. -way more brush head options -noise: will explain in the con section -price to performance: honestly for around 80 bucks this is a no brainer. the oral b wins hands down with some cons of course. - braun over philips: through using different products over the years i realized braun products are way superior than philips be them electric shavers or brushes.. cons: certain things can make or break it for you. -no travel case: my sonicare came with a nice though bulky and heavy case that also charged your brush. - no mode indicator / power on and off: the oral b has no mode indicator. you have to press the button every time to switch modes. you have to hold the power button down to turn off without going through the modes. the sonicare is the opposite. you have to hold to switch modes and single press to turn off or on but it has led indicators. - Loudness: alot of people will mention this but dont do a good job at explaining it. the oral b has an actual motor sound so yes it is more louder than the sonicare but with a caveat. yes a sonicare brush is silent as it is a vibrating brush however, i listen to youtube while i brush my teeth and with the sonicare i could barely hear a podcast or news but the oral b although louder i can hear the podcast clearer. to me it its just the different way each brush use their tech and i dont mind either one. -charge time is 12 hours for a full charge - longer brush time: i see this as a pro but you might think its a con. because the brush is much smaller it takes longer and makes you more focused in brushing so it takes me maybe 3 minutes as after i finish my regular cleaning i switch to whitening mode. - messier? because it takes longer you might have to empty your mouth more often to avoid splashing - cons for both brushes no tongue cleaning so i use a tongue scraper. conclusion: so far the oral b smart 1500 is the best choice in most important ways and sure the sonicare has some good features but, for the best bang for your buck, performance and essentials go for oral b smart 1500 over sonicare and the oral b 1000 and higher tiers. The higher tiers of oral b have the dumb gimmicks of Bluetooth feautures. I also read a lot of reviews complaining it was hard to hold. unless you have severe arthritis or a disability I have to call hogwash on that claim. The oral b is a lot easier to hold and harder to drop. Also a lot of people are also complaining that it's hard to turn off? All you do is either hold the button down for a couple of seconds or press the button 3 or 4 times an it turns off. Reading the manual isn't that hard either.

This is a great electric toothbrush! It has a nice handle, and it holds a charge for a couple of weeks. One small flaw is the on/off button is tricky. The toothbrush is a bit noisy but I soon got used to the sound. The brush cleans really well. I like this one better than the Oral B Pro 1000.

Cons: Not many, with the exception of what I consider a Marketing Con. When you receive your Oral-B unit, you are likely to see a "discount/coupon" code included - as you do with many Amazon vendors. It will explain how you can "Save $15 if you register." Yeah.. sounds great. Don't waste your time. It's a marketing gimmick to get your name/addr/email. You have to provide all that info and the product you purchased + date, before they give you any discount codes. Codes which you would think are meant to save on official Oral-B products. Nope. Not exactly. In my case? I got 2 discount codes + URL links: 1) Get $10 off your Crest Whitestrips Blue Light Kit order NOW! 2) Get $5 Off your first Oral-B Refill Subscription Order NOW! So basically? $10 off a 3rd party product that I could case less about. And $5 off a *subscription*. Yeah.. that's just smoke & mirrors marketing BS, so don't waste time registering your product. There's not a single blurb in the product registration process that tells you about any warranty or service period. They just wanted your marketing target info. Pros: I have been using Oral-B Electric/Rechargable handles for at least 15 years. I've recently purchased the 'Smart 1500' handle, which is my 3rd handle in all that time. My 2nd handle (I forget the model, but it was a cheaper version sold at Costco) is finally showing signs of battery wear. It used to last 10+ days on a single charge, but not it's lasting 2-3 days - I've had it for at least 6 years. I am SUPER satisfied with the Oral-B toothbrush handles, with regards to their durability, battery life, and overall functionality. 5-Stars all the way. And I absolutely feel they help you do a better toothbrushing job than standard brushes. My one and sole disagreement with them, is the vastly overpriced brush-heads. I could buy 2 or 3 of the worlds BEST manual toothbrushes for the price of ONE OEM Oral-B brush head. So, of course, we look for generic "works with" knock offs. Which, I've had a hit-or-miss success rate with. When a generic version is a 'Miss'? It's because the physical fit to the brush base is not as solid and stable. IMO? Oral-B electric rechargeable brush handles have helped me have a far superior overall tooth / gum / oral maintenance experience than manual brushing. It's quick, convenient, and generally easier than manual brushing.

I began to have problems with my old Oral-B electric toothbrush several months ago, and finally it died. I reckon it was at least five years old by this time, maybe as old as seven years. As I recall, I paid about $100 for it after the coupon. I was chagrined to discover that these toothbrushes contain batteries that cannot be replaced. Once the batteries stop being able to hold a charge from the charger, you have to replace the entire unit. It actually took me a while to sort that out because everyone I asked about it thought I was talking about replacing the brush heads. Those should be replaced at least every three months if not a little sooner. I already knew that. Anyway, I began reading reviews on electric toothbrushes. I pretty much knew I wanted another Oral-B, but I was unsure whether to get the 1000 or this 1500 model. I ended up ordering the 1500 model. I could not be more impressed. This toothbrush is POWERFUL. My teeth never feel this clean, smooth, and polished unless I just came from having them cleaned at the dentist's office. I like how powerful is this toothbrush, but I also like that it has a smaller footprint than my old one had. It also feels slightly lighter in my hand. The design is compact and efficient---exactly what such an appliance should be (Water-Pik, take note of this fact!). I have nothing bad to say about this toothbrush. I have heard it has been discontinued. I am not 100% sure this is true, but in case it is true, if you need to replace your old electric toothbrush, or if you are a first time buyer, you cannot go wrong with this toothbrush. Buy it now whilst there are still some in stock. It does not have a lot of bells and whistles, but I for one do not want a lot of bells and whistles. It does exactly what it should do for a pretty reasonable price. If you buy it, I think you will be well pleased with your purchase. I rate this toothbrush five stars out of five!

This was a step up compared to my regular electric tooth brush, more power, extended battery life, brush head works great. Only thing that I think needs improvement is the on and off switch. It does work, though it is harder to handle to turn on and off than my regular toothbrush. Over all, I like it.

This toothbrush is the most dentist-recommended and I can see why. The way the brush spins rapidly is clearly and obviously more effective than my old Sonicare. I questioned the effectiveness of that toothbrush since it just vibrates and doesn't seem to do that much more than a standard manual brush. This one gets between teeth and subjects all surfaces to a fast sweeping that makes them feel very clean, especially with the cross action head it comes with. With this thing, I can feel that the teeth feel wonderfully polished after using. And it's very satisfying to spend a while covering every section of the mouth, I usually actually take closer to 4 minutes than two. Paired with a waterpik and regular flossing I can feel confident that I'm doing all I can to keep my teeth and gums healthy. As others have mentioned, there are a few downsides: it can get slippery if the handle gets wet, it's incredibly smooth; the power button is a little difficult to push easily with a finger, and you have to push it twice to fully stop the toothbrush. Also, I would've preferred the charging base to be white as well, but the battery seems excellent on this model which is why I got it over the next cheapest version (the 1000 I think). Having disclosed the downsides, I'm still awarding five stars since this seems to me the best toothbrush out there, it works great, looks good (especially the black version, which I got for cheaper than the other colors), and overall just does its job excellently. At the end of the day judging a toothbrush for anything but how well it works seems a bit silly.

Overall, I am very satisfied with this purchase, which was replacing an older Oral B toothbrush that was starting to show signs of failure (at about 10 years old). My old one was far slimmer, which I preferred, but this new one seems to do a much better job at cleaning between my teeth and in those tight spaces behind my back teeth. I am "almost" looking forward to my next professional dental cleaning so I can be told how great my teeth look and be asked "what are you doing different?" Haha. Seriously, at the risk of sounding gross, I have even noticed that my dental floss (which I do AFTER brushing) is almost completely clean. To me, that's an indicator that my new toothbrush is really reaching in those tight spaces. On the "less than positive side", this monster is VERY loud and, when on standard speed feels like I'm cleaning my mouth with a sand-blaster. So, I am only using the "gentle cycle/speed". That speed is still powerful and loud, but I feel as if I am in less danger of causing damage to my gums, as well as preventing some of the splatter that could land on my bathroom mirror, walls, sink, and the room next door. LOL. One other suggestion I have for the manufacturer -- Please design a holder/recharger that can be attached to a wall. My prior model had that, and it kept my toothbrush up away from the vanity surface, which I find more sanitary and a much more efficient use of space. I recommend this toothbrush if you want to get your teeth super clean. Allow yourself to become accustomed to it to help avoid the aforementioned splatter. There's definitely a personal technique required. I order it in blue and don't really care for the pale hue, but that's not what really matters.

Having used this for a while, I now find I have received a 110v charger, which no longer appears to be working as the brush no longer charges. I will now need to find a replacement charger and hope that that is the cause. Getting sent a product with the wrong voltage should just not happen. Strongly suggest any purchaser double check base of charger for correct voltage for your region before using.

I chose this as my first electric toothbrush and I am thrilled with it. My teeth are so clean and my gums have stopped being sensitive. I keep it handy and plugged in. I love my toothbrush.

Le 2 stelle sono perché dei 2 spazzolini ordinati 1 è arrivato con la confezione aperta e richiusa con un tratto di scotch; l'apparecchio poi appare impolverato anche nella base, sono convinto fosse un modello da esposizione recuperato (infatti solo questo ha un'etichetta adesiva applicata alla scatola). Tralascio che nella confezione vi sia una sola testina nonostante vi siano 2 alloggiamenti (ma non è specificato nel dettaglio oggetto). Molto sgragevole scoprire che entrambi gli alimentatori sono con spina a lamelle piatte A tipo USA senza che venisse specificato nei dettagli. Sto pensando di restituirlo.
