This is possibly me favorite 5.6 mm Lead Holder. It has a plastic body with metal ends. It's nicely balanced and seems well made. The 5.6 mm Lead included seems of good quality. There's a Pointer in the end but I've only used it once as I have a external Pointer that I prefer

For years I’ve struggled with marking my plants with various types of permanent markers or even label makers, only to eventually have the labels fade or fully wash off. I’ve tried using pencils through the years, but a traditional mechanical pencil is too fine for most tags, and good ol Ticonderoga is just annoying to have to find a sharpener for. These showed up in my recommendeds for some reason, and I was both overjoyed and felt stupid at the same time—how could I forget clutch pencils are a thing! I’ve been using these out in my greenhouse for a few months now and the thicker lead is perfect! It’s legible and not too fine to write on most labels. I also ordered a name brand 2mm clutch pencil at the same time, which IS to fine to be legible, which is why I mention that feature. These are inexpensive enough that I don’t care if I leave them on the bench and they get wet or rusty when my greenhouse gets watered, but, fwiw, I’ve left it on my bench for 3mos now, and it gets watered every other morning, and it’s still not rusting or giving me issue. The sharpener in the top could be a little better, but for a couple bucks per pencil, I totally don’t mind. I’ve attached a couple pics where you can see how well they write on my plastic plant markers.

Great for tracing or line drawings with charcoal. Keeps your hands clean and you can get a sharp point on the charcoal sticks that fit the pencil.

Indestructible and nearly identical to the ultra expensive alternatives! This lead holder has been dropped in a campfire, rolled right up next to hot iron, dropped in the mud and washed out, dinged, squished, and treated like crap… lo’ and behold, she still works perfectly. It is made of a solid materials. Having read the other reviews below, it seems there is a discrepancy in quality manufacturing, however, for this price, I have already taken this gamble twice over. I own a ton of them. Mine all arrived in excellent condition and work well.

I bought some fancier, more expensive ones before these, and while I enjoy them all and use them for different graphite softnesses, I think I love these the best. The grip feels most natural to me. Note, I am not a carpenter who needs to stick a small pencil in the pocket while working– I’m an artist at a desk, so size isn’t an issue for me. I do, however, like to be able to tell the difference in softness by the color or style.

Great for shetching. I like to have a few extras on hand to hold different lead hardnesses and colors.

The pencils are nice. The lead is dark and smooth. Right out of the package, I took one out and attempted to bring out the lead. When I pushed down the top end to bring out the lead the bottom end fell off. Which means that for the price I paid, I got two functioning pencils and not three. 😒

These are great for wide graphite strokes or solid coverage and heavy application for shading with a stump. It’s nice being able to keep one’s hands relatively clean with a comfortable aluminum lead holder with a click mechanism to advance the lead.

Needs a clip, but good value
