It works both forward and backward. It's very sharp so definitely be careful to hold steady whatever you're working on. I'd definitely buy this again. Highly recommend it if youre looking for something hand held that will make your life easier.

Works well excellent

So far really great size and sharpness for shredding large sizes of whole cabbage. I tried a mandolin (really scary) and cut off the tip of my finger just setting it up. It cuts just the perfect thickness for making borscht. Probably good for coleslaw if you like a thicker cut.

Works extremely well for peeling everything, cabbage, potatoes, cucumbers etc. Makes preparation much easier! Be careful when using, very sharp blade. That is why it works so well!

I cut my head of cabbage into thirds and used this tool. It took a bit to get the right grip and direction and have it all come together. But it worked. Once I got the hang of it, it worked quickly. I'm all for saving time in the kitchen. It is a tool you can teach your kids to use, to help you in the kitchen. My only concern is how long the tool will last. But for the time being it works and get the coleslaw on the table quicker.

Blade broke on first use with cabbage. I was really looking forward to using this instead of a shredder. Returning.
